Job description

We're hiring an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team and work on design, documentation, and continuous improvement of our equipment lines.  This role has direct involvement across the full product lifecycle — from concept to shop floor to field.  Engineering end to end includes creating new designs, maintaining, and correcting existing drawing packages, and reverse engineering legacy or customer-supplied equipment and parts when drawings don't exist or don't match what's in the field.  You'll work closely with leadership, sales, production, purchasing, service teams, and customers directly.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain detailed drawings, BOMs, and specifications for fabrication and assembly for both existing and new product designs
  • Design and develop new equipment components and assemblies using CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
  • Support production by resolving design-related issues on the shop floor
  • Evaluate and improve existing product designs for cost, durability, and manufacturability
  • Work with vendors on component integration
  • Conduct testing and validation of prototypes and new designs
  • Collaborate with sales and customers to develop custom or retrofit solutions
  • Maintain design documentation and revision control
  • Support new product development tied to market diversification
  • Identify, initiate, and lead continuous improvement initiatives that drive results to the companies’ goals and objectives.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Proficiency with CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
  • Understanding of sheet metal fabrication, welding, and hydraulic/mechanical systems
  • Experience in agricultural, industrial, or heavy equipment manufacturing preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working directly on the shop floor
  • Ability to communicate effectively with production staff, vendors, and customers
  • Excellent communication, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills
