Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Manufacturing Engineer opportunity in Oak Ridge, TN.
Manufacturing Engineer - Advanced Mechanical Systems
Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer will provide technical support for the development, qualification, and production of precision mechanical systems within a nuclear program environment. The engineer will ensure that manufacturing processes, equipment, and documentation meet applicable regulatory, quality, and safety requirements. This role requires strong analytical capabilities combined with practical problem-solving skills to address complex engineering challenges.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop, validate, and improve manufacturing processes for high-reliability mechanical assemblies.
  • Design and implement tooling, fixtures, and specialized equipment to support production.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues using structured root-cause and corrective-action methodologies.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Operations to transition designs into compliant, scalable production workflows.
  • Prepare and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and technical reports.
  • Support pilot builds, qualification activities, and continuous improvement of production operations.
  • Ensure compliance with nuclear industry standards, safety requirements, and configuration control practices.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline.
  • 5 to 15+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing or process engineering involving precision mechanical components.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools and engineering documentation standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical issues in a production environment.
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Statistical Process Control (SPC) and corrective-action methodologies.
  • Experience working in regulated or safety-critical industries.
  • Strong hands-on aptitude for developing practical solutions to mechanical and process challenges.
  • Ability to design, modify, or adapt tools and equipment to meet unique production requirements.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness, initiative, and independent technical judgment.
