Job description

CMM Programmer / Quality Inspector Location: Goldsboro, NC (Fully Onsite) Duration: 9-12 Month Contract Salary: $67,000-$74,000 Preferred Background: Aerospace, defense, or other high-precision manufacturing environments with hands-on CMM programming and FAI experience. Position Summary We are seeking an experienced CMM Programmer / Quality Inspector to support precision manufacturing operations through dimensional inspection, CMM programming, and First Article Inspection (FAI) activities. This role is responsible for ensuring components and assemblies meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and quality standards. Key Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain CMM inspection programs using CAD models, drawings, and GD&T requirements.
  • Set up and operate CMM equipment to inspect incoming, in-process, and finished parts.
  • Perform First Article Inspections (AS9102 preferred) and prepare customer-facing FAI reports.
  • Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications.
  • Use precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and comparators.
  • Document inspection results, nonconformances, and quality records.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
  • Coordinate calibration and maintenance of CMM equipment and inspection tools.
  • Assist with audits, quality documentation, receiving inspection, and in-process/final inspections.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve dimensional issues.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of CMM operation and programming experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with FAI documentation, preferably in aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with CMM software such as QxSoft CMM Manager, PolyWorks, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading.
  • Experience using precision inspection and measurement equipment.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality systems preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and communication abilities.
Work Environment
  • Fully onsite manufacturing and inspection environment.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 35 lbs occasionally.
  • PPE required in designated areas.
