Manufacturing Engineer – Job Description

Reports to: Engineering Manager

SUMMARY:

The ME plays a role in supporting and improving operations. Their focus is on identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, quality, and overall performance while ensuring work is completed safely and effectively.

They will be working closely with operations, quality, and maintenance. They help troubleshoot issues, implement process improvements, and support ongoing production needs. This role is both hands-on and collaborative, with a strong connection to the production areas. They help develop and maintain needed systems to drive continuous improvement in areas of cost, quality, safety, lead time, and use of working capital.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:

· Continually evaluate tools and equipment options that will reduce cost in the operation.

· Lead projects related to manufacturing process improvements.

· Provide manufacturing technical support for production operations, which includes tooling, fixturing and process troubleshooting utilizing existing systems and procedures.

· Monitor and correct safety/ergonomic issues / assist EH&S as needed.

· Work with associates on 5S programs and assist teams in implementation.

· Assist other functional areas as directed.

· Analyze production costs, identify cost-saving opportunities and implement changes.

· Participate in verification, review, and implementing specifications.

· Assist in work cell load balancing for all manufacturing areas.

· Evaluate new projects for tooling and equipment needs.

· Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's degree or higher in Industrial Engineering or a related field

- 3 to 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering

- Lean Manufacturing principles

- Aptitude for analyzing data to make recommendations

- Excellent communication skills and collaboration skills

- Excels at documenting processes and making improvements to the process

- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and principles

- Ability to take on projects outside their scope of work

- Self-directed to meet the outlined KPIs for the job

- Proficient in SolidWorks / AutoCAD

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods of time and to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The associate is required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel or crawl over, under and around equipment. The associate is required to frequently work from heights. May be exposed to vibrations. The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently, move up to 50 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
