Job description

Job Title: Associate Attorney

Location: Idaho Falls, ID (On-site)
Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role

We are a growing criminal defense practice seeking a dedicated Associate Attorney to join our litigation team. This role offers the chance to work independently on a full caseload, while still being supported by a collaborative group of attorneys and staff. The focus will be on criminal defense, with opportunities to expand into related areas such as civil rights, personal injury, or family law based on your interests and expertise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in criminal defense and related matters, including hearings, trials, motions, and negotiations.

  • Manage assigned cases from intake to resolution while ensuring consistent communication with clients.

  • Prepare and review pleadings, discovery responses, and motions in compliance with court rules.

  • Attend weekly case review sessions to ensure progress and share insights with colleagues.

  • Provide legal advice and strategy recommendations in a clear and timely manner.

  • Maintain strict adherence to professional ethics and procedural requirements.

  • Collaborate with paralegals and administrative staff to optimize case flow and client service.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

  • Active license to practice in Idaho (or ability to quickly obtain admission)

  • Minimum 2 years of legal practice, preferably with criminal defense exposure

  • Proven courtroom and litigation skills

  • Strong legal writing and research abilities

  • Excellent organizational and client communication skills

  • Proficiency with standard office and case management software

Preferred:

  • Direct experience handling misdemeanor and felony defense cases

  • Background in motion practice or appellate work

  • Spanish or bilingual language skills

  • Familiarity with southern and eastern Idaho court systems
