RN Charge Nurse (Registered Nurse)

Position Type: Full time

Available Shifts: 6am-6pm or 6pm-6am (3 shifts/week) or part time weekends only

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced RN Charge Nurse to join our skilled nursing facility team. As an RN Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the nursing department, providing high-quality patient care, and ensuring that all nursing staff adhere to facility policies and procedures. Your leadership and clinical skills will be essential in delivering compassionate and effective care to our residents.

Work Environment:

This position operates in a clinical healthcare environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervision and Leadership: Supervise and coordinate the activities of nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs. Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to nursing staff to ensure high standards of care. Conduct regular staff meetings and assist in the training and evaluation of nursing personnel.

  • Patient Care Management: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans. Monitor and manage patient progress, including changes in condition, and make necessary adjustments to care plans. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians and in accordance with facility policies.

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that care practices and documentation meet regulatory standards and facility policies. Perform regular audits of patient records and care practices to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations. Address and resolve any patient or family concerns regarding care.

  • Communication and Collaboration: Serve as the primary point of contact between the nursing department and other healthcare professionals, including physicians, therapists, and social workers. Communicate effectively with residents and their families regarding care plans, treatment options, and progress. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate and enhance patient care.

  • Administrative Duties: Manage staffing schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts and handling any staffing issues that arise. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation. Assist in the development and implementation of nursing policies and procedures.

  • Emergency Response: Respond to and manage emergency situations, providing critical care and coordinating with emergency services as needed. Conduct incident investigations and report findings as required.

Qualifications:

  • Current and valid RN license in Nebraska.

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
