Environmental Laboratory Project Manager Assistant About the role

The Project Manager delivers superb customer service while seamlessly executing administrative tasks to ensure clientsโ€™ analytical needs are met in a timely fashion. The position requires coordination with multiple internal departments and serving as a liaison between GEL and both prospective and existing clients in need of analytical services. Similar to an inside sales representative, the Project Manager handles existing orders while exploring new business opportunities. Industries served include DOE, DOD, radiopharmaceuticals, Nuclear Power (NP), nuclear waste management, local heavy industry, engineering firms, and municipal clients. If you have customer service skills, laboratory knowledge, or inside sales experience in any of these market sectors and you are seeking an opportunity to grow your career with an industryโ€‘leading organization, this could be the job for you!

What youโ€™ll do:
  • Demonstrate and support GELโ€™s Core Values.
  • Manage several million dollars in annual revenues from clients that require ongoing levels of excellent customer service.
  • Coordinate sample collection and container requests, verify login to the client, and communicate special needs and associated problems with the Division Directors, Group Leaders, analysts, login team, and support groups.
  • Initiate project startup in coordination with the contracts group, Client Services Manager, and Division Directors. Project startup includes thorough review of the project contract and documentation/communication of contract requirements to sample receiving, laboratory, data packaging, EDD group, accounting, waste management and any other areas of the company that may be involved in the administration of the contract.
  • Set up and validate the project to ensure all clientโ€‘specific requirements are communicated to each area of the laboratory.
  • Monitor a multitude of projects as they progress through the lab. Verify the companyโ€™s ability to meet performance requirements (onโ€‘time delivery, complete data package, compliant EDD, etc.) and communicate changes or concerns to clients as needed.
  • Manage all deliverables prepared for the client, including the data package, preliminary results, EDD, invoices, and monthly performance reports. Ensure product completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of these deliverables.
  • Prepare administrative case narrative and technical cover letters for data packages.
  • Maintain a high level of responsiveness at all times; return all eโ€‘mails and phone calls within two hours of receiving messages from clients.
  • Prepare invoices for submission to clients and assist accounting with collection of receivables.
  • Provide backโ€‘up coverage for other Project Managers as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree (preferably in Chemistry, Biology, or related science) or Bachelor of Business Administration/Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree.
  • At least one year of experience in a similar field, preferably three years of experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, preferably Laboratory Information Management System experience as well.
  • Basic knowledge of environmental laboratory methods and processes, along with basic math and science knowledge.
  • Data evaluation, multitasking, and timeโ€‘management skills.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical, problemโ€‘solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent customer service demonstrated by clear written and verbal communication.
What We Offer
  • A commitment to safety and corporate values that promote respect, integrity, and innovation.
  • Competitive compensation.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • Life Insurance Plans, including Accidental and Critical Illness plans.
  • Companyโ€‘paid short and longโ€‘term disability insurance.
  • 401(k) plan with employer matching.
  • Paid Time Off and holidays.
