Position Description:
Executes hands-on software development and interacts with architecture, management and product owners to translate product requirements into cloud technology solutions. Confers with systems analysts and other software engineers/developers to design systems and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces. Develops and oversees software system tests and validation procedures, programs and documentation. Develops complex or multiple software applications and conducts studies of alternatives to translate divisional initiatives into business solutions. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Participates in architecture design teams.

  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.

  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.

  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.

  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.

  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.

  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.

  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.

  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.

  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.

  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.

  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.

  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.

  • Mentors junior team members.

  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.

  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing Java applications using Agile methodologies within a financial services environment.
Or, alternatively, Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing Java applications using Agile methodologies within a financial services environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") deploying, configuring, and maintaining FIS products; building and maintaining OBIEE reports to support business operations; and developing client-side UI development and backend integration using Spring Webflow, JSP and jQuery, and RDBMS systems (Oracle SQL).

  • DE developing Java based services using Event Driven Architecture (CQRS and EventBus); applying Domain Driven Design (DDD) methodology; implementing authentication and authorization using SiteMinder, Spring Security, and Spring LDAP for OAuth2, SSO, and Digest based authentication; generating financial reports in PDF format using iText, Java Executors and Reflections features; implementing real-time distributed caching with Memcached and EHCache; and working with frameworks (Spring Data JPA, Batch, AOP, Hibernate, and MyBatis) to support business process execution within a distributed environment.

  • DE performing requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation in JIRA; designing Entity Relationship, Class, Activity, and Sequence UML diagrams using Microsoft Visio; creating mock UI pages; developing features with Java and Oracle SQL; writing automated test suites using Selenium and Sahi; conducting performance tuning and testing with LoadRunner, Dynatrace, JVisualVM, and JConsole; performing penetration testing using Veracode; and providing technical guidance to development and QA teams.

  • DE implementing automated system provisioning, continuous integration, deployment, and monitoring processes using Docker, Jenkins, uDeploy, Chef/Knife, and Bash/PowerShell for Linux and Windows VMs running in cloud environments; and configuring enterprise tools including AXWAY (partner profiles), Control M jobs, OpenCMS, Apache ActiveMQ (topics, queues), Dynatrace (agents, monitors, dashboards), and integrating these components with the Java application layer.
