Job description

Senior Mobile App Consultant

Design, develop, and lead mobile application solutions for a global travel and leisure company, focusing on Flutter-based mobile platforms and Java-based backend services.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership
    • Lead architecture and technical design for mobile applications, Java BFF services, APIs, and enterprise integrations.
    • Champion AI‑enabled software development practices, productivity tools, and engineering automation opportunities.
    • Establish engineering standards, development frameworks, and reusable design patterns that promote scalability, security, and maintainability.
    • Provide technical direction, design approaches, and articulate mobile delivery best practices.
    • Oversee multiple cross‑functional teams to ensure adherence to mobile architectural standards and pattern reuse.
  • Full Stack Development
    • Contribute hands‑on to full‑stack development spanning Flutter front‑end applications and Java back‑end services, including BFF layers, REST APIs, and microservices.
    • Write and review production‑quality code across the stack to maintain technical credibility and ensure architectural decisions remain grounded.
    • Leverage AI‑enabled development tools to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, and model efficient engineering practices.
  • AI Enablement & Innovation
    • Champion adoption of AI‑enabled development tools across the mobile engineering organization.
    • Drive opportunities to embed AI‑powered capabilities into customer‑facing mobile experiences, partnering with product and architecture teams.
    • Serve as an internal thought leader on emerging AI technologies and their impact on engineering velocity and product differentiation.
  • Architecture & Solution Design
    • Define mobile platform architecture and lead technical evaluation of vendors with clear build‑vs‑buy recommendations.
    • Contribute to the design and rollout of mobile applications, enabling reuse and scalability across business solutions.
    • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture team to balance architectural recommendations with delivery strategy.
    • Review and approve solution designs for alignment with enterprise guidelines, performance SLAs, and quality benchmarks.
  • Observability & Operational Excellence
    • Establish observability standards across mobile and back‑end services, including logging, monitoring, alerting, and distributed tracing.
    • Partner with Infrastructure and Quality Engineering to build dashboards and alerting pipelines.
    • Drive teams to build observability into design from the outset, improving reliability and reducing time to resolution.
  • Strategic Collaboration & Project Leadership
    • Engage with IT teams during PMLC and SDLC phases.
    • Lead estimation sessions, recommend mobile delivery approaches, and ensure alignment with business objectives and technical constraints.
    • Guide implementation of mobile personalization and recommendation features in customer‑facing channels.
    • Communicate technical strategy, delivery progress, and risks to executive leadership.
  • Technical Guidance & Mentorship
    • Provide mobile application and design guidance to technical staff through oversight of complex business requirements analysis.
    • Mentor junior and mid‑level mobile engineers.
    • Support process enhancements and improvements across delivery teams.
Travel Requirements

Travel: Less than 10%.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
  • Education – Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or related field. Master’s degree or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge and Skills – Strong analytical, logical reasoning, and problem‑solving skills; excellent written and oral communication; ability to set technical direction, define standards, and guide delivery teams.
  • Experience – Consulting and collaborating with customers; senior‑level development experience with full‑stack capability across mobile and back‑end services; practical experience applying AI to boost development productivity and build AI‑powered customer‑facing features; proven ability to translate business requirements into scalable mobile solutions; experience leading diverse teams; managing relationships with mobile application vendors and cloud service providers; strong teamwork, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Technical Skills – Mobile solutions: Flutter, Dart, iOS, Swift, Xcode, Android, Kotlin, Firebase; Backend: Java, J2EE, Spring Boot, REST APIs, AWS/Azure; AI‑enabled development tools and engineering automation solutions; CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, SonarQube); containerization (Docker, Kubernetes); API development; enterprise integration and deployment.
