What you'll do in the role:

Morgan Stanley Services Group, Inc. is seeking an Associate, Software Engineer in New York, New York to design and develop web-based and distributed applications using Java, Python, and related frameworks. Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with technology teams to deliver scalable and reliable solutions supporting trading and order management functions. Implement REST APIs and microservices using Spring Boot, Spring Cloud Gateway, and Python web frameworks such as Flask and FastAPI. Apply API design, validation, and error handling best practices. Develop concurrent and asynchronous solutions using multiprocessing and asynchronous programming techniques. Implement caching strategies and work with Redis for data storage and performance optimization. Carry out app containerization using Docker and Podman. Write and maintain automated unit and integration tests. Utilize CI/CD pipelines, containerization tools, and version control systems. Work with SQL databases and API documentation tools. Monitor and support production systems by diagnosing and resolving issues in a timely manner. Ensure application reliability, scalability, and security compliance. Leverage knowledge of fixed income markets and related financial instruments. Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week.

What you'll bring to the role:

-Requires a Master's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field of study.

-Requires two (2) years of experience in the position offered or two (2) years as a Software Engineer, or in a related role in the technology field.

-Requires two (2) years of experience with the following skills:

  • Agile;
  • Java;
  • Python;
  • Linux;
  • Flask;
  • FastAPI;
  • Spring Boot;
  • Spring Cloud Gateway;
  • REST API development;
  • API design and validation;
  • Microservices architecture;
  • Multiprocessing and Asynchronous programming;

  • PostgreSQL;
  • SQL;
  • CI/CD pipelines;
  • Git;
  • Containerization;
  • Docker; and
  • Unit and Integration testing.

-Requires one (1) year of experience with:

  • Spring WebFlux;
  • Podman; and
  • financial instruments and order management systems.

-Requires any amount of experience with:

  • Reactive programming.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $135,160 and $150,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
