IPTA is seeking a Platform Infrastructure Engineer responsible for installing, configuring, managing and maintaining virtualized systems to ensure data integrity, availability and security. The selected candidate will work with leadership and the architect team to design a virtualization strategy to meet mission requirements. They will provide technical expertise supporting information systems components, infrastructure integration and maintenance to meet architectural and business requirements.


Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Engineer, deploy, and support VMware ESXi, vCenter, and enterprise server infrastructure.
  • Engineering, installation and maintenance of server hardware and ESXi virtualization platform.
  • Evaluate and incorporate emerging technologies into the virtualization software solutions to enhance system performance and resource efficiency.
  • Evaluate virtualization software solutions vigilantly to reduce systems complexity while maintaining robust cybersecurity measures.
  • Support VMware technologies including vSAN, vROps, and NSX.
  • Monitor virtualization performance and resolve any issues.
  • Monitor tools that provide critical insights into workloads, depletion of resources, and peak loads of servers.
  • Assess network and server architecture for efficiency, improvements, or upgrades.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of the data centers virtualization software, hypervisors, interfaces, layout, system, and processes.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or related field
  • 10 years prior experience in a similar role
  • DoD 8570 Level II/III certification desired
  • VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization
  • Proven work experience providing Data Center virtualization software solutions.
  • Experience working in cloud environments.
  • Active Security Clearance Required

Preferred Technical Skills

  • Experience designing, deploying, and administering VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments, ESXi, vCenter Server, NSX, vSAN, and VMware Aria Suite.
  • Experience administering enterprise VMware virtualization platforms, including High Availability (HA), Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS), vMotion, Storage vMotion, Distributed Switches, and resource optimization.
  • Experience deploying and supporting enterprise compute infrastructure using Dell PowerEdge, HPE ProLiant, or equivalent x86 server platforms.
  • Experience implementing software-defined data center (SDDC) architectures and virtualization best practices.
  • Experience deploying and administering enterprise storage technologies, including VMware vSAN, NAS, iSCSI, and storage replication.
  • Experience configuring VMware NSX, software-defined networking (SDN), virtual networking, VLANs, distributed switching, and network segmentation.
  • Experience administering Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating systems within enterprise virtualized environments.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and technical leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional infrastructure and engineering teams.
