Infection Prevention Nurse-IP/ TX Nurse needed for premier nursing facility.Come join our winning team!

Position Summary:

The Infection Control directs managerial functions of planning, organizing, coordinating, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the Infection Control Program. The IP has the authority to take necessary steps to prevent and control the acquisition and transmission of infectious agents in the patient, staff, and visitor populations. The Infection Prevention (IP) is responsible for the surveillance, analysis, and reporting of hospital-acquired infections; educating employees about infection control; and developing organizational infection control standards that meet state and federal regulatory and accrediting bodies, CDC, OSHA, and APIC guidelines

Treatment Nurse is responsible for patient/resident skin care and other medical assessments, treatments and documentation, under the direction of the Director of Nursing Services (DON) and/or attending physician(s). Assists in recommending modifications of treatment regimens to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of the resident, in accordance with established medical practices, federal and state regulations and company policies.

Qualifications:

  • Current & unencumbered state license as a Registered Nurse or LPN
  • Experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (preferred)
  • IP Certification (preferred but not required)
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities and infection control practices, to include standard/universal precautions and guidelines for antibiotic stewardship.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with ability to gather information, document, and report findings.
  • Good computer skills-including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and PCC experience preferred.
  • APIC Certification in infection control preferred, but not necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as designated associate responsible for monitoring Public Health Advisories from local, state, and federal agencies including the CDC
  • Serves as the on-site IPC for COVID-19 prevention and response activities, in accordance with current CDC recommendations
  • Maintains a current knowledge of infection control trends, methodologies, and employee health practices
  • Performs work within the scope of his/her license
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Must be knowledgeable of Infection Prevention and Control practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing functions in the post-acute care facility
  • Must have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Infection Prevention and Control Program
  • Provides treatment and therapeutic services per physician orders
  • Consults with DON, Medical Director and other members of the Care Plan Team concerning assessment evaluations, assists in developing appropriate treatment plans
  • Examines patient/residents and their medical records/charts, recommending when to refer them to a physician for further evaluation or care
  • Assesses skin conditions, identifying, photographing and documenting stages and any other problems upon admission/re-admission or any extended time away from the facility
  • Performs weekly patient skin and other examinations as needed recording results, reporting as needed and securing/applying the corresponding treatment orders
  • Ensures that residents with decubitus ulcers receive appropriate prophylaxis and treatment, such as daily inspection, turning and activity, a well-planned diet, and maintenance of clean, dry bed
  • Performs administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc.
  • Builds positive relationships with interdisciplinary team members working with kitchen staff for dietary changes, therapy on wound management, etc.
  • Provides information to resident and family members on prevention techniques and other ways to maintain or improve general health and psychosocial status of resident
  • Provides written and/or oral reports and recommendations to attending physician, DON and other department leaders as appropriate and necessary.
  • Orders medication/equipment/treatment supplies, etc. to ensure care is provided timely
  • Audits and completes treatment sheets or other required charting documentation to ensure they are updated and accurate
  • Attends meetings as assigned to discuss patients' and other facility business
  • Treats everyone at work in a kind, patient, supportive and encouraging manner
