JOB SUMMARY

Teaching Associate will teach one or more 2-unit lab section(s) of PSYC 3311.

TYPICAL ACTIVITIES

This position involves preparing a syllabus and assignments, creating lessons and class activities, attending class weekly for the duration of the semester, grading assignments, holding weekly office hours, and responding to student communication in a timely manner. Teaching Associates will also work closely with the full-time faculty members teaching the 3-unit lecture portion of the class to make sure the lecture and lab coincide.

Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a student in one of the three graduate programs in the Department of Psychology (i.e., MA in Psychological Science, MS in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, or MS in Clinical Counseling Psychology). 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Applicants must:

    1. Be enrolled in good standing as a classified graduate student in one of the three graduate programs in Psychology list above.
    2. To teach the PSYC 3311 lab, the applicant should have completed PSYC 6640 (or equivalent) with a grade of B or better
    3. Maintain academic eligibility throughout the employment period (enrolled, with 3.0 GPA or higher). 
    1. Be available to teach courses at time assigned. 
    2. Attend pre-teaching course planning sessions during the day the week before classes begin in Fall. Specific dates and times TBA. 
    3. Accept responsibility and have the ability to relate well to others.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
