We are actively hiring for an Insurance Litigation Attorney (CA License Required) - Remote!

Your Role:

As an Insurance Litigation Attorney you will be expected to independently handle an inventory of litigated and non-litigated files. This attorney will also be expected to advise and mentor less senior attorneys.

Your Work:

  • This role may be performed remotely anywhere in the U.S., but candidates must be actively licensed and in good standing with the California Bar.
  • Attorneys are required to travel when appropriate for depositions, mediations, mandatory settlement conferences, arbitrations and trials. We also gather occasionally in person with our teams for certain meetings and events.
  • Applies independent analysis and judgment to prepare discovery, legal pleadings, trial briefs, etc. with close coordination and input from claims specialists.
  • Appears and advocates on behalf of CSAA IG and our member insureds.
  • Conducts all phases of personal injury litigation including jury trials, motions, and arbitration hearings.
  • Assigned files range in complexity and dollar value.
  • Works on and responsible for handling complex legal matters or projects including matters not in litigation.
  • Identifies issues with major implications, high liability exposure, special circumstances and/or departure from guidelines. Refers to higher level staff for review and possible assignment of additional resources.

Required Experience, Education and Skills

  • 5-8+ years of experience in insurance defense practice with courtroom and first or second chair trial experience
  • Ability to work collaboratively with assigned paralegal(s) and support staff
  • Requires law degree
  • License to practice law in California required
  • Skilled in personal injury litigation including liability assessment, causation, damages, coverage, personal injury damages and causation and the tri-partite relationship
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in an organized and timely manner
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS office and online research tools
  • Ability to advocate creatively, persuasively and effectively
  • The ability to think and act independently in a client's best interest
  • Knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of legal ethics

The national average salary range for this position is $117,000-$168,000. However, we have a location-based compensation structure. Our salary ranges vary and are calculated based on work location. The starting pay range for this position across all the states we hire in is $117,000-$200,000. This role also includes an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, through our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP), between 8-12% of eligible pay.
