Principal Accounting Associate, SEC Reporting

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual earnings releases, periodic SEC filings and regulatory disclosure
  • Research disclosure issues to ensure the appropriate application of the SEC, GAAP and federal rules
  • Work with reporting stakeholders to ensure alignment on quantitative and qualitative disclosures
  • Review supporting documentation to substantiate information included in each quarterly disclosure document
  • Collaborate in the completion of disclosure checklists to ensure disclosure compliance
  • Prepare variance analysis, trend analyses, and reconciliations
  • Support control processes and engage with audit and compliance groups as necessary
  • Support ad-hoc research projects, peer analysis, and disclosure update proposals
  • Support broader enterprise initiatives including building out materials and/or processes to support potential acquisitions and/or divestitures
  • Drive process improvements and support implementation of automation efforts

Ideal candidate should posses:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize diverse tasks
  • Ability to produce quality materials within tight timeframes
  • Experience with financial and/or accounting reporting systems
  • Financial institution experience preferred

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 3 Years of experience in Accounting, Audit, Finance or a combination

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • 2+ years of experience in SEC Reporting
  • 1+ year of experience in financial institutions
  • 1+ year of experience in financial and accounting reporting systems

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $120,800 - $137,900 for Principal Associate, Accounting
Richmond, VA: $109,900 - $125,400 for Principal Associate, Accounting
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
