Alcon is looking to hire an Associate I, (Sr. Tool Maker) that supports engineers in the design, modification, and improvement of products/processes. You will be trusted to identifying and recommending improvements/preventive actions, inspecting, testing, maintaining, repairing, and installing equipment and systems. Monitors process, estimates costs, makes or verifies calculations, analyzes and interprets data. Tests new and modified products, processes, and/or systems.
This role is on site in our Fort Worth, Texas location and a typical day will include:
  • Working in a Toolroom environment to build and maintain molds for use in Alcon R&D molding rooms.
  • Setting up, and utilizing various machining equipment, including EDM sinker & Wire and vertical machining centers.
  • Assisting molding / process engineers with debugging molds.
  • An understanding of Mastercam software.
  • Measuring mold critical dimensions and troubleshooting mold or tool setup issues.
  • Helping set new SOPS and update existing SOPs for the mold and tool department.
  • Provide training if needed to other departments/or team if vital.
  • Completing or assisting with technical improvement projects or activities for process upgrades for better plastic mold part and lens quality.
  • Assisting in the installation, startup, and validation of the injection molding or tooling equipment and systems.
  • Advising and improving maintenance systems (preventative, corrective, predictive, and spare parts).
  • Resolving low-yield, defect issues to molds, inserts, and tool plates.
  • Performing molds/inserts inspections and measurements, sometimes using a microscope, and conducting tool plate setups and cleaning.
  • Collaborating with various cross-functional teams across the manufacturing facility.

What You'll Bring to Alcon:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • 3 Years of Relevant Experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • EDM Machine experience
