WHO YOU ARE
Prowess Consulting is looking for an enthusiastic junior System Administrator/Test Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have skills in a variety of technologies including storage, compute, and networking. Strong trouble shooting and creative problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate effectively to resolve issues.
To be considered for this role, you must reside in one of the following states: Alabama, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or Washington.
This is a full-time role with Prowess Consulting. This role can be worked remotely, however collaboration with teammates centered in the Pacific time zone will be essential. No third-party agencies, please.
THE ROLE
  • Researching, testing, development and writing in support of benchmarking, and testing
  • Running publicly available hardware benchmarks and tracking results
  • Running provided Python/PowerShell/Bash/Shell scripts or interactive steps to stress test server infrastructure hardware
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required
  • 2+ years or working knowledge with scripting languages such as Python and Batch/Shell scripts
  • Ability to take clear notes and write concise technical documentation
  • Ability to analyze/interpret test results and provide recommendations to improve testing.
  • Must be able to work Pacific Time Zone
NICE TO HAVE
  • 2+ years' experience in a Windows environment
  • 2+ years' experience with Linux Administration
  • 1+ year experience in configuring enterprise storage
  • 1+ year consumer hardware benchmarking and testing
  • 2+ years with building sandbox and lab environments
  • Ability to conduct research to learn and understand new technologies
  • Additional experience in the following areas:
    • Kubernetes
    • AI/ML workloads
    • Microsoft SQL Server
    • MySQL
    • Virtualization such as Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware vSphere, Nutanix AHV
    • Nginx
    • Redis
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
  • The offered base pay range for this specific positing is $75,000 - 100,000 per year, DOE
  • Pay ranges are different for different work locations within the U.S., which allows for competitive pay and consistency in different states
  • U.S. based employees, working 30 hours per week or more have access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, basic life insurance, a 401K plan with matching, well-being benefits, education benefits, among others.
