Job description

Build Your Future With Farmers Insurance, In One of America's Fastest-Growing Cities

Farmers Insurance is in the middle of one of the biggest growth pushes in its 95-year history, with plans to appoint nearly 1,700 new agency owners nationwide this year alone as part of an "entrepreneurs supporting entrepreneurs" model. That growth is landing in a city built for it: Austin has been ranked the No. 1 large U.S. city for economic growth, recently crossed one million residents, and continues to add jobs and new businesses at a pace few metros can match. For a driven professional ready to build something of their own, there has never been a better time or place to start.

The Farmers Associate Agent Program is a transitional opportunity up to 24 months designed for motivated professionals who want to own and operate their own Farmers agency. You'll operate independently while receiving hands-on mentorship from your district office, set your own schedule, and build a real book of business, all backed by Farmers' training, brand, and resources. Strong performers can qualify for reduced or waived capital requirements when they transition into full agency ownership.

  • Prospect, generate, and manage your own pipeline of leads through networking, referrals, and community outreach
  • Conduct insurance reviews and needs assessments for individuals, families, and businesses
  • Follow up consistently with prospects and leads to move them through the sales cycle
  • Service existing policies and manage renewals, changes, and cross-sell/upsell opportunities to build long-term client relationships

  • Track your production, pipeline, and performance against the goals that will qualify you for agency ownership
  • Build the operational habits (scheduling, follow-up systems, client management) you'll need to run your own agency

Requirements

This program rewards people who can run their own show. We're looking for candidates who bring:

  • Self-discipline able to structure their own day, hit activity targets, and stay consistent without direct daily supervision
  • Self-starter mentality takes initiative on prospecting and business development rather than waiting for leads to be handed over
  • Motivation and drive treats this as building a business, not clocking into a job
  • Competitiveness energized by production goals, rankings, and measurable results
  • Resilience handles rejection in sales and keeps prospecting without losing momentum
  • Coachability takes mentorship and training seriously and applies feedback quickly
  • Entrepreneurial mindset thinks like a future business owner from day one, not just a producer
  • Strong communication skills builds trust quickly with prospects and clients across a wide range of backgrounds.

Requirements:

  • Must pass a satisfactory background check prior to participation
  • Must hold, or be willing to obtain, Property & Casualty or Life & Health insurance licenses before your start date; both active licenses required before the end of the program
  • Sales experience preferred; track record of success in a results-driven environment
  • Willingness to operate on a commission-based structure with bonus opportunities as production grows
  • Based in or willing to work the Austin market
