Job description

We are excited for you to apply to our Associate Crop Insurance Agent position in our Grand Rapids or Mt. Pleasant, MI location. Our Crop Insurance Agents also assist in the development and implementation of crop insurance sales plans and provide technical guidance and product support to the Customer Teams in assigned regions. The incumbent may also be asked to conduct individual and group product educational demonstrations.

Day in the life of an Associate Crop Insurance Specialist:

  • We work as a team to provide quality sales and service to our row crop growers.  A typical day includes working close with our team of agents and processors, our producers, and the insurance companies that we write with.  It often involves farm visits, educating producers on the best risk management options for their farm, building new policies and servicing renewals, mapping producer's fields, auditing current policies, and being engaged through community and agricultural events. 
    Provides accurate and timely data entry into customer database and insurance software programs and scans documentation per requirements of both GreenStone and insurance companies.
  • Assists Crop Insurance Specialists in the collection of delinquent premiums through letters and phone contact.
  • Works closely with other Technicians and Specialists to achieve reporting deadlines, both APH and acreage reporting.
  • Compiles and produces reports, statements, or other tracking information.
  • Files insurance documents.
  • Maintains knowledge of crop insurance products.

 

What Experience can you Bring?

  • Bachelor's degree is required.  Degree in business, agriculture, finance or related majors is preferred. 
  • 1+ years of experience in the agriculture or in the insurance field with an agriculture background.
  • Must acquire and maintain an insurance license for crop insurance sales and meet all State and Federal annual requirements.
  • 40-50% daytime travel within assigned territory.
