Description

Yeh and Associates, Inc., Construction Services Department is looking for experienced Materials Technicians to assist professional engineers, construction managers, and/or geologists in the practical application of engineering, scientific processes and techniques on a variety of construction and geotechnical engineering projects. You will obtain soil, concrete, and asphalt samples from various sources following standard procedures for specific testing to evaluate whether the materials are suitable for the intended use then test them in the field for compliance with project specifications. Experienced Materials Technicians will represent the owner/client to verify that the contractor is performing quality work in accordance with project plans. A friendly demeaner and desire to work together as a team to accomplish a common goal are a must.

Requirements

Minimum Required Skills for Materials Technicians II/III

  • High school or equivalent
  • Basic highway math, surveying and plan reading
  • Ability to attain and renew certifications on a periodic basis
  • A comprehensive understanding of the technical aspects of construction materials testing
  • Prepare detailed and accurate field reports on daily basis
  • Prepare materials documentation in a timely fashion
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Self-motivated, with strong technical problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and communication skills
  • Ability to contribute and work well as part of a team
  • Ability to work outdoors on construction sites and lab environments
  • Ability to evaluate technical documents such as construction plans and specifications
  • Ability to travel for extended periods of time for the duration of the project(s)

To be considered for Tech II: Minimum of 3 years' testing experience and certifications in the following areas

ACI Field

  • ACI Strength
  • Radiation/HAZMAT
  • CAPA A and B (Asphalt Certification, Marshall and Gyratory experience a plus)
  • CDOT Basics
  • CDOT Tester/Sampler
  • WAQTC Soils and Embankment Testing
  • WAQTC Soils Inspector

To be considered for Tech III: Minimum of 5 years' testing experience and certification in the following areas

  • All certifications listed above in Tech II, plus
  • ACPA Concrete Pavement Inspection
  • CAPA C and I
  • CDOT TECS and SWMP

Experience preference

  • Related experience on construction projects
  • Colorado Department of Transportation
  • Other State Department of Transportation
  • Federal Aviation Administration

Work environment

  • Working in multiple locations, all types of terrain, weather conditions, and through various stages of construction.
  • Loud noise levels
  • Strong adherence to safety
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent use and transportation of nuclear gauge

Overtime pay is available when overtime is required. When travel is required, travel expenses including lodging and per diem allowance are provided.
