Salary Range: $80,000 - $95,000, pay may vary on location.

Description

The Content Game Designer will design, document, and implement narrative and combat driven content for our action-based multiplayer RPG game. This role focuses on rapid iteration, clear communication, and collaboration with crossdisciplinary partners. The ideal candidate brings a strong creative mindset, an understanding of live game content and constraints, and the ability to deliver productionready documentation. This position reports to the Creative Director, and will be responsible for:

  • Designing new playerfacing content that cleanly incorporates existing content standards, gameplay loops, and narrative delivery for DCUO
  • Producing clear, actionable design documentation with detailed content specs, level design, user flow, boss mechanics, and moment-to-moment gameplay
  • Teaming up with art, engineering, quality assurance, and production to ensure content is scoped appropriately for all disciplines and can be implemented to spec
  • Creating prototypes or lightweight design proofs to assess content risks and value
  • Implementing the content's data layer directly in the game database, including creating new entries, updating existing tables, validating data structures, and ensuring all values align with design intent and engineering constraints
  • Supporting implementation through regular reviews, Jira updates, and crossteam communication
  • Providing tuning recommendations and postlaunch adjustments as needed

Craft expertise you'll have:

  • Tools/Technology /Knowledge:
  • A strong proficiency in Unreal 3, visual scripting, or equivalent
  • Agile development process experience
  • Previous professional MMO game development experience
  • Ability to write concise, productionready documentation
  • Excellence in content, gameplay, and level design for persistent game environments
  • Strong problemsolving skills and the ability to propose multiple solutions to design challenges

Other Criteria

  • Years of Experience, Education, and/or Certification...
  • 7+ years' experience in game design
  • Additionally, you should possess:
  • Experience designing or maintaining content in a shipped MMO
  •  Ability to work well in cross-disciplinary teams
  • A self-sufficient personality who speaks their mind candidly and respectfully, can seamlessly integrate their ideas with others, and continually incorporates feedback into their designs
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Extremely self-motivated with strong communication skills
  • Ability to work well with deadlines and under pressure
