Job description

Senior Full-Stack Product Engineer

Location: Pleasant Grove, UT (Hybrid)

Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $140,000 – $180,000 Base + Equity

Benefits:

  • Time Off: Flexible, responsible PTO
  • Retirement: 401(k) plan with a company match.
  • Healthcare: Comprehensive medical coverage with employer-shared premiums and company HSA contributions.

About Us

At SocialCoach, we are a highly profitable, bootstrapped startup on an aggressive growth trajectory. We build top-of-funnel marketing, social media, and video creation platforms tailored for the mortgage and real estate industries. Our small, experienced team knows how to scale. Our leadership has a proven track record of taking a startup all the way to a $1B exit. We are highly focused on execution and compounding the value of what we’re building. We are growing efficiently, our roadmap is stacked, and we have a lot of technically interesting problems to solve.

The Role

We are looking for a high-leverage, entrepreneurial Senior Full-Stack Engineer who is deeply product-minded. We don’t just want someone to clear tickets. We are looking for a pragmatic builder who wants to own the products they build end-to-end. You will have a seat at the table in shaping the product, scoping implementation details, and translating business goals into scalable architecture.

Our Tech Stach

We operate on a clean Ruby on Rails monolith, supported by targeted microservices for heavy, composable tasks.

  • Backend: Ruby on Rails (Core), Node.js, Spring/Kotlin
  • Frontend: React, React Native, ShadCN, Tailwind
  • Infrastructure: Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes

How We Work & What You'll Be Doing
  • High Autonomy, Low Friction: We operate with a continuous, lightweight Kanban flow using Linear. We optimize for deep work, rapid iteration, and shipping over bureaucracy.
  • End-to-End Ownership: You will architect and ship high-impact features across our web and mobile applications from day one.
  • Customer-Centric Engineering: You will partner directly with our Customer Success team to close the feedback loop, ensuring the technical implementation translates into a polished, high-quality product that solves real user pain points.
  • Complex Problem Solving: Tackle technically challenging architecture at scale, like building out autoscaling infrastructure for massive daily social media payloads, orchestrating synchronous compliance scans prior to dispatching posts, and optimizing heavy video rendering pipelines.

About You
  • You have 5+ years of proven experience as a Full-Stack Engineer building and scaling production applications.
  • You possess an ownership mindset. You care just as much about the user experience, business impact, and product quality as you do about elegant code.
  • You have deep, hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails and React.
  • You have a willingness to dive into other backend ecosystems (Spring, Kotlin, Node) when maintaining supporting microservices.
  • You know how to balance shipping new features with paying down technical debt and prioritizing platform health.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are located in Utah for a flexible hybrid setup out of our Pleasant Grove office.

Bonus Points If You Have Experience With:

  • Mortgage tech, PropTech, or FinTech ecosystems. (Note: We are entirely open to fully remote candidates anywhere in the US, provided you bring deep, existing domain experience in Mortgage Tech, PropTech, or FinTech)
  • Social media platform integrations and API management.
  • Programmatic video creation and manipulation (e.g., FFmpeg, encoding, and rendering pipelines).

If you are excited about this role and our tech stack, but don't check every single box, we still highly encourage you to apply.

Why Join Us

You will be joining a highly profitable, successful team with all the upside of an early-stage startup. We control our own destiny without VC pressure, allowing us to focus entirely on building a great business on our own terms. We give our engineers the autonomy to be true self-starters, and because our engineering core is small, your perspective will fundamentally shift our company DNA. We aren’t looking for someone to just mirror our current thinking; we are actively looking for "culture adds" who bring different life experiences to challenge our assumptions and make our team stronger. Backed by a leadership team that knows how to build and scale, if you love taking ownership of what you build, we want you here.

What to Expect in the Interview Process

We respect your time and do not believe in unnecessary algorithm tests or whiteboard marathons. Our process is designed to see how you think and build in the real world.

  1. Intro Call (30 mins): A casual conversation to discuss your background, what you're looking for, and if our current technical challenges align with your goals.
  2. Architecture & Engineering Deep Dive (60 mins): A practical discussion with our engineering team about systems you've built, how you approach product scoping, and navigating our tech stack.
  3. Compensated Take-Home PR: We will give you access to a Git repository containing an existing SocialCoach Chrome extension and ask you to add a few specific features. This lets you skip the boilerplate and shows us how you navigate an established codebase and submit a clean PR. We respect your time, so this is strictly time-boxed, and we compensate you with an Amazon gift card for completing it.
  4. Meet the Founder (30 mins): A final chat to discuss business context, vision, and mutual fit.
