Description:

JOB SUMMARY: The Front Desk Associate supports high-quality, patient-centered care in a medical home setting, focusing on disease prevention under the guidance of the Front Office Supervisor. Responsibilities include verifying patient identity and insurance, collecting intake forms and visit reasons, updating the EMR, and preparing necessary documents. By ensuring accurate data entry, referrals, and documentation, the receptionist upholds patient care standards and complies with confidentiality and quality policies.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Administrative Duties

  • Always Maintains a courteous and professional demeanor; greets individuals and patients as they enter and exit the clinic
  • Checks in all patients; verifies patient identity, medical insurance, establishes if patient is eligible for Sliding Fee Scale
  • Verifies patient identity and insurance eligibility for each visit by obtaining photocopies of driverโ€™s licenses, insurance cards, documentation for the Sliding Fee Scale
  • Reminds patients of upcoming appointments, follow-up visits, and referrals as applicable
  • Always maintains and ensures patient confidentiality
  • Updates Electronic Medical Record system as needed (scheduling/rescheduling appointments, collecting and recording patient co-pays, checking billing notes, collecting fees for service, updating insurance information, entering patient registration information, etc.)
  • Provides accurate and detailed phone messages to providers and staff
  • Obtains patient consent/signature(s) when necessary
  • Screens all phone calls that come in and manages the โ€œflowโ€ of the front desk (answering patient questions, scanning/faxing/photocopying documents as required)
  • Collects patient payments at the time of each visit; posts patient payments in eCW daily
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; comply with legal regulations
  • Ensures front office and clinic policies and procedures (as applicable) are always followed
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
  • Attends and actively participates in staff meetings
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

  • The Medical Front Desk Receptionist ensures compliance with all 19 Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Health Center Program Requirements.
  • The Medical Front Desk Receptionist is also expected to actively participate in and support quality improvement activities and the clinical practice team efforts emphasizing the importance of the individual patient and putting the patientโ€™s needs first.
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Fluency in English and Spanish โ€“ required


Education Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. - required
  • At least 2 (two) years of front desk experience (including scheduling and insurance verification) in a medical clinic or facility. โ€“ preferred
