What You'll Do
We're looking for an Associate Actuary to join our Variable Annuity team leading Financial Reporting. The Associate Actuary is responsible for directing and providing analytical leadership for GAAP and Statutory reporting functions across a growing block of traditional variable annuity and RILA business. You'll promote effective use of actuarial techniques, tools, and methodologies, as well as lead and conduct research related to what-if analysis, forecasting, and financial problem solving.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and direct a small team in preparation and communication of monthly GAAP and Statutory financial results for traditional variable annuity and RILA products. Research and stay apprised of changes in pertinent regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Apply actuarial analysis in the development and maintenance of sound, efficient, and accurate systems and models to support calculations and recommendations.
  • Perform annual VM21 regulatory reporting and reserve requirements, including the VM31 report and audit correspondence.
  • Coordinate quarterly forecasts that support financial planning, risk management, and enterprise decision-making.
  • Develop strong partnerships across stakeholders and business partners, including actuarial, accounting, financial planning & analysis, audit, and more.
  • Partner with actuarial leaders to ensure modeling processes meet product needs.
  • Lead or participate in business unit or cross company projects. Provide research-based consultation to achieve cost effective and strategic solutions.
  • Cultivate talent, provide technical collaboration, and promote a highly engaged team.
  • Influence across the organization to drive improved actuarial processes.

Who You Are
  • Knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, the Actuarial Standards of Practice promulgated by the Actuarial Standards Board, and the Code of Professional Conduct of the AAA and the SoA is required.
  • A Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, or global equivalent, or Enrolled Actuary required.
  • Basic knowledge of traditional variable annuities or RILAs, GAAP, and Statutory financial reporting.

Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range
$127000 - $171000 / year
Time Off Program
Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don't accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, Raleigh, NC or Charlotte, NC.). Strong preference for Des Moines, IA based candidates. You'll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
