Job description

Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly capable Field Engineer who thrives in client-facing environments and has a strong background in networking and end-user support. This role plays a critical part in the success of Cortavos managed service delivery model handling everything from complex onsite issues and installations to remote troubleshooting and documentation. This position demands the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and respond positively to sudden changes in priorities.
The Field Engineer represents Cortavo directly with clients and their end users, and is expected to demonstrate technical proficiency, clear communication, and an ability to adapt to evolving needs and schedules.
This is a hybrid field role requiring:
  • Onsite support at client locations at least once per week (or more, based on the discretion of the hiring manager)
  • Travel on short notice to other client sites when needed
  • Occasional overnight travel, including multi-day deployments

*When not onsite, the Field Engineer will provide remote support and collaborate with internal teams to close tickets and improve documentation.
This role has dual reporting to the Service Delivery Manager and the Service Delivery Team Lead.
Responsibilities:
  • Deliver exceptional onsite and remote support for Cortavo clients and their end users
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot workstations, laptops, printers, and networking equipment
  • Act as the technical face of Cortavo building trust through professionalism, punctuality, and accountability
  • Maintain detailed and accurate ticket documentation, including timekeeping, notes, and scheduled tasks
  • Support Office 365, Windows 11, MacOS, network connectivity, VPNs, and basic server administration
  • Image and deploy devices as part of client onboarding and refresh initiatives
  • Conduct new user orientation and first day training on equipment and support access
  • Maintain clean and organized workspace setups, ensuring cable management and presentation standards
  • Respond to shifting priorities and travel on short notice as client needs arise
  • Stay overnight at client locations when required, sometimes for multiple days
  • Track and restock inventory in vehicles and field closets
  • Assist with RMAs and warranty claims for damaged or failed equipment
  • Maintain and write accurate knowledge base articles as you come across knowledge and information while working cases. Knowledge is the base of Managed Services.
  • Work collaboratively with Service Desk, Engineering, and Client Success teams on escalated support

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Valid U.S. Drivers License with clean driving record
  • Able to lift/move 50+ pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods
  • Willing and able to travel regionally on short notice, including multi-day overnight trips
  • Associates degree in related field or in progress is acceptable
  • 2+ years of experience in IT support, field services, or desktop support roles
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts (Wi-Fi, VLANs, DHCP/DNS, VPN, firewall basics)
  • Proficiency in Windows 10/11, Office 365, Teams, and desktop imaging tools
  • Strong ticket discipline: accurate time entries, clear notes, and effective follow-up
  • Comfortable juggling multiple tasks and tickets in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional and empathetic communicator, especially under pressure
  • Strong organizational skills and a commitment to documentation and process

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Managed Service Provider experience
  • Microsoft Certifications, particularly any prerequisite for Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert and Exam MS-102: Endpoint Administrator
  • Familiarity with IT hardware, software, and managed services technology
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, particularly Gmail and Google Docs
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Intune
  • Familiarity with Entra is a plus
