The Associate Field Service Engineer will be responsible for providing extensive service to most encountered products and problems without assistance. An intermediate-level position requiring broad technical knowledge with the regular application of advanced engineering principles, practices and techniques.
Primary responsibilities will include:
  • Provide maintenance and troubleshooting for CNCs, servo, spindle drive and motor products. Investigate customer complaints and perform analysis to determine the cause(s). Operate with consistent support from Supervisor/Manager.
  • Actively participate in on-the-job training and classroom instruction.
  • Understand and promote the company goal of exceeding customer expectations while learning how to deal with customers.
  • Report quality problems to the appropriate manager/supervisor as they are encountered.
  • Control inventory as assigned.
  • Learn service operations, procedures and policies, including timely and accurate submission of required paperwork.
  • Maintain all company-provided equipment, including tools.
  • Travel as required within company-provided directions and guidelines.
  • Travel to customer sites with some overnight travel ranging from 2-8 nights per month.
  • Able to travel by airplane for training purposes/ meetings as needed.
  • Supervisor/Manager provides detailed instructions and screens assignments to ensure a proper match for the Service Engineer's level of expertise. Appropriate diagnosis, repair and parts needs will be discussed with the Supervisor/Manager. Will frequently work with a more senior-level Field Service Engineer.

Ideal candidate will have the following experience and education:
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Electronics or Mechatronics, Technical Trade School graduate and/or relevant work experience in a related field preferred.
  • Two years of relevant experience in a technical customer support or field service environment preferred.
  • Transport equipment and parts (weighing up to 75 pounds) to customer locations.
  • Ability to diagnose and problem-solve.
  • Ability to make preliminary selections and adaptation of engineering alternatives.
  • Ability to learn and absorb new ideas quickly and completely to keep current with changes in technology and methodologies.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Troubleshooting ability.
  • Use of diagnostic tools.
  • Flexibility in traveling 80% - 90% to customer sites.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to drive throughout the organization's service area for business as required.
  • Must be able to legally rent and operate a vehicle in the United States and Canada for business travel purposes.
