Job description

ESP Associates, Inc. (ESP) is currently seeking a project-level professional Environmental Engineer or Geologist in our Raleigh, NC location. This position will enhance and support our companyโ€™s environmental consulting team throughout the Carolinas.

This is a project-oriented position, which will require a working knowledge of both North and South Carolina and Federal environmental regulations/guidelines. In addition, this position will involve management of clients, projects, and budgets for both small and large complex sites, scheduling, mentoring, and training of junior staff, as well as technical proposal and report preparation. This position will also be responsible for project technical success and profitability as well as client development. Some periodic out-of-town overnight travel is anticipated for this position.

ESPโ€™s environmental consulting team provides services to private, commercial, industrial, and governmental agency clients. Our team includes professional geologists, geophysicists, and engineers, along with other staff and technicians trained and experienced in the regulatory-driven environment of compliance management.

The preferred candidate will have experience in due diligence, assessment, risk-based analysis, NEPA, Brownfields/VCC contracts, USTs, vapor intrusion assessment and mitigation, and hazardous materials evaluations, among other environmental services. Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Earth Sciences, or related program of study
  • Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist or ability to obtain licensure
  • 5+ years of environmental project management experience
  • Strong written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to travel as needed (overnight travel estimated at 10%)
  • Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the companyโ€™s driving (MVR) policy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with ArcGIS and/or AutoCAD, and Excel
  • Expertise in field testing and sampling methodologies
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training

Physical Requirements:

  • Capable of walking various terrains, including inclines and declines
  • Bending, kneeling, twisting, auguring, and repetitive lifting of 20 lbs.
