The Position

Support compliance with environmental regulations & materials waste handling procedures & regulations, as well as supporting sustainability objectives Provide engineering support and input to site strategy ensuring sustainability objectives are met. Continuously improve the sites environmental and sustainability processes using cLean methodology.

Relationships

Reports to Manager / Senior Manager.

Essential Functions

  • Support stakeholders in relation to the site ISO14001 program and prepare site for ISO50001 and ISO46001 certification
  • Responsible for waste management procedures content to ensure compliance with current regulatory & security requirements
  • Maintain knowledge in energy, waste, and water management and act as SME for investment project teams
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to forecast consumption and cost for: waste, water, and energy
  • Create purchase orders and approve invoices for: waste, water, and energy
  • Support the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to the company’s strategic goals
  • Support development of business cases, based on KPI trends, to implement projects that align with the site’s strategic sustainability goals, to include supporting junior team members
  • Support moderately complex projects that align with the site’s strategic sustainability goals
  • Remain current with professional organizations and their guidance’s/industry standards (ASHRAE, AEE, AAEES, ISWA, SWANA, ISPE, etc.)
  • Support site sustainability standards
  • Support complex cross-functional investigations, related to sustainability, & coach other departments on sustainability
  • Support global initiatives, including Circular for Zero
  • Understand cGMP, FDA, and OSHA regulations
  • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
  • Other accountabilities, as assigned

Physical Requirements

May move equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. May be required to be on your feet for up to a 12-hour shift. May required corrected vision to 20/20 or 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. May require the ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protections.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, chemistry, biology or related field of study from an accredited university required with a minimum of one (1) year of environmental or engineering experience in a manufacturing facility preferred
    • In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum of one (1) year of experience preferred, may consider a Associate’s Degree in engineering, technology or related field of study from an accredited university with a minimum of two (2) years of environmental or engineering experience in a manufacturing environment required
    • In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum of one (1) year of experience preferred, may consider a High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of four (4) years of environmental or engineering experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • General knowledge in energy, water, and waste management as well as working in a regulated environment (FDA, cGMP, OSHA) required Ability to collect data and analyze trends to write & present technical documentation and reports required
  • Understand energy and mass conservation principles and ability to perform calculations to create high level models/forecast required
  • In depth knowledge of Microsoft excel, word, and power point required
  • Ability to read and understand drawings required
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial HVAC, electrical, utility, BMS, and waste systems preferred
  • Demonstrates a high level of organization in task management, as well as logical planning for task execution & follow-up required
  • Demonstrates a systematic approach to problem solving & troubleshooting required
  • Documents problems thoroughly & accurately required
