Associate Environment Artists are entry-level professionals in the video game or film industries who help create and design the visual environments seen in games, movies, or other digital media. They work under the guidance of senior artists to build 3D models, textures, and lighting setups for environments such as landscapes, buildings, and interiors. Their responsibilities often include asset creation, scene composition, and ensuring that environments are visually consistent with the project’s style and technical requirements. This role is ideal for individuals with strong artistic skills and familiarity with software like Maya, Blender, or Unreal Engine.

What are some common challenges faced by associate environment artists when working on large game projects?

Associate Environment Artists often encounter challenges related to balancing creative vision with technical constraints, such as optimizing assets for performance without sacrificing visual quality. Collaborating closely with senior artists, level designers, and developers is essential, and adapting to shifting project priorities or feedback can require flexibility. Additionally, managing multiple asset tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines is a key part of the role, making effective time management and communication critical for success.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an associate environment artist, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Associate Environment Artist, you need a strong foundation in 3D modeling, texturing, and digital art, often supported by a relevant degree or portfolio. Proficiency with industry-standard tools like Autodesk Maya, Blender, ZBrush, and game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity is typically required. Creativity, attention to detail, and effective collaboration make candidates stand out in team-based production environments. These skills ensure the creation of immersive, visually compelling game worlds that enhance player experience and meet project goals.

Skills in 3D modeling, texturing, and software like Unreal Engine or Unity enhance employability, and entry-level roles often serve as stepping stones to more advanced positions.

How much does an associate environment artist get paid?

An associate environment artist typically earns between $40,000 and $60,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and the complexity of projects. Entry-level positions may start lower, while those with specialized skills in tools like Maya or Unreal Engine can command higher salaries.

Job description

Associate Veterinarian Practice Exceptional Medicine in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles

At DTLA Vets, we believe veterinarians should spend their time practicing medicine, not managing
workflow, searching for support staff, or falling behind because the hospital isn’t functioning as a team.

We’re building something different. As a privately owned, four-doctor hospital in Downtown Los Angeles,
we’re intentionally creating a practice where doctors are supported by exceptional RVTs, assistants, and
client service professionals who work together through clear communication, efficient systems, and
shared accountability. Our investment in leadership development, workflow optimization, and team
utilization allows our veterinarians to focus on what they do best: delivering outstanding patient care.

Why DTLA Vets?

Our doctors genuinely enjoy working together. Cases are discussed collaboratively, ideas are shared
freely, and everyone is committed to helping one another succeed. We believe the best medicine comes
from great teamwork, not working in silos.

We’re also committed to practicing at the highest level. Our hospital is implementing innovative
operational systems that improve efficiency, reduce unnecessary delays, and create a better experience
for patients, clients, and our team. Rather than expecting doctors to manage every aspect of the visit, we
are designing systems that allow you to stay focused on medicine while a highly trained team supports
the patient journey.

The Practice You’ll Join:
  • Four-doctor, privately owned hospital
  • Progressive general practice with daily urgent care cases
  • Loyal, compliant client base that values quality medicine
  • Experienced and engaged nursing team
  • Collaborative culture built on respect, communication, and continuous learning
  • Leadership committed to investing in people, not just equipment

Whether you’re an experienced veterinarian or have completed an internship and is ready to continue
growing, you’ll find mentorship, autonomy, and opportunities to develop your career in a supportive
environment.

What We Offer Full-Time Employees

Total Compensation Packages are competitive and estimated at $170,000-$220,000 annually, depending
on experience, schedule, benefit elections, and signing bonus. With any full-time employment, we offer:

  • Signing bonus
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Generous continuing education allowance
  • Skill-based bonus opportunities
  • Paid licensure, professional dues, and memberships
  • 401(k)
  • Employee pet care discounts
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Flexible full-time or part-time scheduling
Work-Life Blend

We recognize that exceptional medicine requires balance. We value sustainable schedules, teamwork,
and an environment where people enjoy coming to work. We support one another, celebrate successes,
and continually look for ways to improve — because we believe great practices never stop growing.

Life in Downtown Los Angeles

Practice in one of Los Angeles’ most vibrant neighborhoods, surrounded by world-class restaurants,
sports, entertainment, arts, and culture. Whether you enjoy exploring the city’s diverse food scene,
attending concerts, visiting museums, or spending weekends at nearby beaches and mountains,
Downtown Los Angeles offers an exciting place to build both your career and your life.

If you’re looking for more than your next job, perhaps a hospital that’s intentionally building the future of
veterinary medicine, then we’d love to meet you!
