Hiring In Spain information

What are the key steps involved in hiring employees in Spain?

Hiring employees in Spain involves several important steps. Employers must first ensure compliance with Spanish labor laws, which include drafting a legal employment contract, registering the employee with social security, and adhering to minimum wage and working hour regulations. Additionally, non-EU nationals will require work permits, and all employees must have a valid tax identification number (NIE). Employers should also be aware of collective bargaining agreements and provide mandatory employee benefits. Proper onboarding and maintaining accurate employee records are crucial for legal compliance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a hiring manager in Spain?

To thrive as a Hiring Manager in Spain, you need a solid understanding of recruitment strategies, Spanish labor laws, and talent assessment, often backed by a degree in human resources or a related field. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), HR software, and possibly certifications like CIPD or SHRM is valuable. Excellent interpersonal skills, cultural awareness, and strong organizational abilities help build relationships and ensure effective candidate evaluation. These skills and qualifications are crucial for attracting top talent and ensuring compliance within Spain’s dynamic employment landscape.

What are common challenges companies face when hiring in Spain, and how can job seekers address them?

One common challenge in the Spanish hiring market is the high level of competition for positions, particularly in urban centers and popular industries. Additionally, companies often prioritize candidates with strong language skills (both Spanish and English) and familiarity with local labor regulations. Job seekers can stand out by highlighting relevant language proficiency, demonstrating an understanding of Spanish work culture, and showcasing adaptability. Being proactive about networking and staying informed about regional differences in hiring practices can also be beneficial.

Job description

Additional Information: This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Archer Hotel Management Limited. The franchisee is a separate company and a separate employer from Marriott International, Inc. The franchisee solely controls all aspects of the hotel's employment policies and practices, including hiring, firing, discipline, staffing, compensation, benefits, and all other terms and conditions of employment. If you accept a position at this hotel, you will be employed by a franchisee and not by Marriott International, Inc.

Archer Hotel Management is developing an exceptional new luxury hospitality destination in the heart of Seville, Spain, scheduled to open in late Q1 2027.
Operating under The Luxury Collection brand, this five-star hotel will bring together world-class service, distinctive design, and an authentic connection to one of Europe's most vibrant and culturally rich destinations.
Currently under construction, the hotel represents a unique opportunity to join the project during its formative stages and play a key role in shaping its future success. The successful candidate will be part of the pre-opening leadership team, working alongside the General Manager and key stakeholders to establish the operational, financial, and cultural foundations of what will become one of Seville's premier luxury hospitality experiences.
This role offers a rare chance to contribute to a landmark opening project, combining the entrepreneurial spirit of a new development with the strength and global recognition of one of the world's most prestigious luxury hotel brands.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as Director of Finance within luxury or upscale hotels.
  • Previous experience in self-accounting hotels is essential.
  • Experience in independent, franchised or brand-owned hotel environments is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory reporting, external audits, taxation and local accounting regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing costs below GOP and hotel profitability.
  • Proven ability to operate both strategically and hands-on.
  • Experience in hotel pre-openings is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and hotel financial systems.
  • Experience with SAP, Oracle, Sun Systems or similar ERP platforms is advantageous.
Languages
  • Fluent English (written and spoken) is essential.
  • Fluent Spanish (written and spoken) is essential.

This company is an equal opportunity employer.
