Associate Engineers are entry-level engineering professionals who support more experienced engineers in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining various projects in their field. They typically work under supervision and assist with tasks such as drafting technical documents, conducting research, analyzing data, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Associate Engineers often gain practical experience and training to advance to higher-level engineering roles as they develop their skills.

What are some typical challenges associate engineers face when transitioning from academic projects to industry roles?

Associate Engineers often find the transition from academic projects to industry roles challenging due to differences in project scope, teamwork dynamics, and pace. In industry, you’ll likely work on larger, multi-disciplinary teams where effective communication and collaboration are crucial. WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Manage and execute full-cycle searches across CTC's technology function.

  • Thoughtfully lead candidate debrief and calibration sessions, ensuring alignment between interviewers, hiring managers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Manage candidate experience from first contact through offer with accuracy, efficiency, and professionalism.
  • Bring a team-first mentality by sharing market intelligence, collaborating on initiatives, and investing in the growth of those around you to build a recruiting team the business trusts and values.
  • Partner closely with the HCM Practice Leader/HR Business Partner to provide exceptional and seamless service to our internal clients
  • Weave AI into all aspects of the recruiting process

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • ~5+ years of recruiting experience with strong preference for experience at quant hedge funds or prop trading firms
  • Ideal candidate has spent time in both search firm and corporate recruiting environments
  • Demonstrated strength in direct sourcing, with a track record of proactive outreach and pipeline development
  • Track record of successfully vetting candidates for technical ability as well as cultural attributes
  • Deep understanding of technical skill sets and how these contribute to a prop trading firm or quant hedge fund
  • Values the success of the team above personal recognition
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully utilizing behavioral interviews
  • Operates with a high sense of urgency
  • Fluency with technical assessment tools such as Codility and CoderPad
  • Strong communicator who can engage sophisticated technical and business audiences
  • Organized, accountable, and capable of managing multiple searches without dropping the ball
  • Chicago (preferred) or New York required. Hybrid in-office (Monday-Thursday in office)
