Job Description:

Position Summary:

Partners with manufacturing to ensure engineered designs, procedures, and processes are established and implemented to continuously improve production equipment electronic controls. Specifically performs electrical and electronic engineering assignments associated with the maintenance, programming, and modification of automated and semi-automated manufacturing production equipment. Assists in the development, application, and maintenance of Company engineering processes and standards.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and assist Electricians with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical and or electronic control systems.

  • Provides leadership and documentation of all PLC preventative maintenance.

  • Lead and assist Engineers and contractors in the design and development of related equipment schematics to NEC and applicable code requirements.

  • Develops standardized work plans and utilizes disciplined and proven problem-solving techniques to determine root cause analysis for equipment downtime and recommends specific process improvements.

  • Responsible for process engineering and to provide technical support for plant manufacturing.

  • Leads the training and implementation of kaizen events and supports, contributes and routinely demonstrates lean manufacturing principles.

  • Partners with plant manufacturing on continuous improvement projects to improve performance and profitability.

  • Complies with policies and procedures pertaining to facility or divisional adopted standards, such as ISO 14001 Environmental Policy, TS Quality System.

  • Performs other related engineering duties as assigned.

  • May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in an applicable Engineering field.

  • 3-5 years electronic controls experience with RS logic and use of Siemens and/or Allen Bradley PLC's.

  • Documented experience with troubleshooting and training PLC utilization

  • Knowledge and familiarity with ITAF16949 Quality System and ISO 14001 an asset.

  • Direct knowledge of Electrical codes and standards

  • PLC programming

Work Environment/Work Conditions:

  • Requires the ability to work a flexible schedule with OT as needed to maintain production equipment uptime.

  • May include periodic short duration of travel.

  • Exposure to manufacturing plant environment including: moving mechanical parts, non-hazardous fumes, airborne particles, heat, frequent standing/walking, and moderate noise level.

  • Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on manufacturing floor

  • Equipment used requires proper training on the potential for and avoidance of injur
