Job description

POSITION DESCRIPTION 
Huron Valley Schools is seeking a collaborative, energetic, and innovative Teacher Leader to join the Teaching, Learning, and Technology team. Though this position will be supporting JK-12 programming in all content areas. This teacher leader will be expected to provide leadership and administrative support to promote student success. The candidate selected for this position will demonstrate the best combination of qualifications and experience consistent with those listed below.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years successful classroom teaching experience
  • Experience with district committee work and/or participating in curriculum/assessment development
  • Willingness to learn and be knowledgeable about all JK-12 content standards and benchmarks
  • Working knowledge of evidence-based methodologies, curriculum and instructional
  • strategies
  • Successful experience in a school leadership role preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team and department
  • Ability to analyze and use data to design, modify and evaluate curriculum, instruction, and assessment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Willingness to collaborate to address the needs of all learners through a multi-tiered system of support
  • Skill in utilizing data to enhance teaching and learning
  • Ability to foster professional growth with colleagues
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills across varied groups
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, school day and school year (may include some work after school and in the summer)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborate with all members of the TLT team and district leaders (ie: directors, teacher leaders, building administrators, cohort leaders) to ensure consistent implementation of curriculum, instructional strategies and district assessments
  • Support teachers in selecting and implementing the most appropriate, evidence-based instructional strategies
  • Build teacher capacity in using resources and in developing formative and summative assessments
  • Provide job-embedded professional learning for classroom teachers surrounding effective instructional practices
  • Plan and lead professional learning sessions
  • Develop standard-aligned materials, assessments and resources
  • Partner with principals, individual teachers and schools to implement new and existing curricula and assessments
  • Support and implement district focus areas
  • Establish trust, rapport and credibility with entire school community
  • Develop and facilitate professional learning with individual teachers, grade level teams, and whole staffs
  • Analyze and use data to design, modify and evaluate curriculum, instruction and assessment
  • Utilize data management systems to support building staff in increasing student achievement
  • Develop a program culture where the staff, students, and parents see themselves as a learning community where the exchange of information and ideas are common practice
  • Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  Bachelor's Degree or higher. Career and technical education experience preferred.

LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL AND REASONING SKILLS: Ability to speak and write effectively.  Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.  Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
