Purpose
Design and create detail drawings utilizing computer aided design. Work with engineers and other designers as assigned to develop computer generated construction documents in support of target goals and objectives.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Direction
  • Perform work under limited supervision. Receive direction on complex assignments with general guidance on execution. Work is generally reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound techniques and principles. Review work produced by staff for quality assurance.

At the Operational and Company Level
  • Work closely with more senior staff members to learn and assist in design work.
  • Work collaboratively with multidiscipline design team.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies and clients.

Do the Work
  • Produce drawings using computer aided design software such as AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Prepare and review drawings to communicate engineering ideas.
  • Create and document concepts, sketches, models, layouts, submittals, instructions, and complete production packages. Create and maintain completed 3-D engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards.
  • Perform design calculations, prepare material and equipment specifications, and provide sketches and notes for drawings.
  • Perform moderate design tasks and prepare portions of project documents.
  • Work independently and collaboratively on planning, design, and/or research on conventional engineering projects.
  • Evaluate, analyze, interpret, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria for engineering projects.
  • Assist in determining project schedule and budget.
  • Prepare permit applications and construction documents; prepare and perform QA/QC of construction documents, and technical specifications.
  • Identify and resolve incomplete or conflicting design inputs.
  • Independently resolve problems encountered by selecting and interpreting information from various engineering resources.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent commensurate experience required.
  • Associate's degree in computer aided drafting/design and electrical or equivalent degree highly preferred.
  • Five or more (5+) years of relevant industry-related experience and proficiency in detail design work within land development, construction, or utilities.
  • Experience reading construction plans.
  • Familiarity with practices and procedures pertaining to technical matters to include construction, manufacturing, substation design, and electrical engineering.
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of electricity preferred.
  • Ability to process engineering changes to existing drawings.
  • Proficient in design and drafting procedures.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar engineering design software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
