Mesa seeks a Physical Substation Electrical Engineer in the South Plainfield, NJ area to assist with Substation Electrical/Physical design, including Conceptual Design, Calcs, and the development of General Arrangements for 4kV-500kV Substations/Switchyards, Equipment Plans, Elevations and Sections, Control House Layouts, Grounding analysis/design, Switchgear design, Conduit and Cable design, Creation of Bill of Materials utilizing AutoCAD/MicroStation drafting software. Hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Work to protect and maintain a strong client relationship between Mesa and a local utility.
  • Learn the local utility standards, processes, and design practices.
  • Serve as a Quality Champion for Mesa and the design team and be part of Mesa’s Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives.
  • Foster strong customer relationships through communications and support.
  • Desire/interest to cross-train in additional disciplines for professional growth.
  • Attending scoping site visits as requested for projects.
  • Able to obtain PE license in required states.
  • Must be able to complete assignments within budget and schedule with a high degree of accuracy to provide quality deliverables.
  • Must have willingness to work overtime as required for customers’ needs.
  • Mentor other designers/engineers in group to increase knowledge of physical substation design.
  • May be designated to check/review other personnel work for accuracy/adherence to client/national standards.
  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply engineering principles and practices relevant to the project requirements. Share updates with team and leads to continually improve communications and quality.
