Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a/an Electrical Designer in our Vaughan, ON location.

Reporting to the Hardware Manager the Electrical Designer is responsible for the preparation of electrical design packages including single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and bill of materials (BOMs) for assigned projects.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Read and understand customer specifics for electrical components, assemblies, equipment, and systems.
  • Prepares electrical design packages for assigned manufacturing projects.
  • Design electrical schematics, layouts, and drawings for electrical systems including HVAC systems, lighting, receptacles, fans, fire alarm systems, and battery systems using AutoCAD.
  • Design AutoCAD drawings of three line and wiring drawings for switchgear projects.
  • Reviews AC/DC schematics and validates wiring diagrams; validates customer bill of material (BOM) for accuracy.
  • Review electrical control house wiring design and update drawings for red line corrections; generates "as built" drawings from production redlines and notes at end of project for customer records.
  • Review and modify designs to reduce production issues; provides timely updates for drawing revisions, while following the CTS Revision Control processes.
  • Works collaboratively with the electrical project engineer and other technical professionals on assigned projects.
  • Work closely with engineering and production team members to answer design questions that arise during the engineering design and production process.
  • Provide suggestions on areas of improvement to standardize design and increase the efficiency in the manufacturing process.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

  • Associates degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field; education may be substituted for direct related experience.
  • At least 2 years experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings including schematics and electrical product guidelines.
  • Proficiency with National Electrical Safety Code and IEEE/ANSI Standard
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Experience with MV switchgear testing hands on (preferred)
