The Job: The Associate, Education Programs is responsible for delivering engaging programming for educational and community partners, focusing on revenue-positive engagements both off-site and within the Museum. This position would support all Education departments with a focus on delivering programming to youth and families.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging and dynamic STEAM programming for youth and families, and educators participating in a variety of Education department programs.
  • Focus will be on revenue-positive programs that are both off-site and within the Museum.
  • Cross trained in a diverse range of activities, both current and future developed, and to be deployed as requests are received from outside partners or clients.
  • Assist with the daily operation of major Education programs and initiatives
  • Support Museum initiatives on a limited basis for unique events initiated by departments such as Special Events, Exhibits, etc.
  • Track and record activity or program attendance (collecting quantitative data).
  • Safely operating all equipment and materials associated with programming
  • Organize materials and space(s) before, during and after programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent with 1 - 3 years of experience facilitating education programs
  • Strong interest in the exploration and delivery of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and design, and Mathematics) concepts, content, and experiences.
  • Ability to apply and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations, especially when in outside locations.
  • Capacity to quickly learn new programming and facilitation methodologies, and may include design software applications and machinery, and STEAM related content that is responsive to client expectations or needs.
  • Proficient working with Windows, Google Docs, and basic file maintenance
  • Experience with open source software and operating systems, 2D design, 3D design, or technical illustration a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate with others
  • Established ability to speak in front of an audience with comfort and confidence along with the ability to engage diverse audiences in a variety of environments and locations.
  • Proficiency in the Spanish language is a plus
  • Driver's license or ability to obtain a driver's license is required.
  • Some Travel maybe required

Language:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of the organization.
Mathematical:
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as addition, subtraction, percentages, etc.
Reasoning:
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
Physical:
  • Ability to perform various functions such as standing, sitting, walking/moving across uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, lifting, pushing, carrying, seeing in varying light conditions, fine finger dexterity, and participating in some physical activities.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
The hourly rate for this position is $19.00.
