Associate Analytical Technician


Position Overview


The Associate Analytical Technician supports manufacturing operations by performing routine laboratory analyses that provide critical data for production, quality, and operational decision-making. This position is responsible for sample preparation and collection, routine laboratory testing, analytical instrumentation maintenance, data acquisition, documentation, and reporting of analytical results.


The successful candidate will have foundational laboratory skills and the ability to perform routine laboratory activities in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), analytical methods, Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements, and Operating Discipline Management System (ODMS) procedures.


Key Responsibilities


Perform routine laboratory analyses under the direction of senior laboratory personnel until proficiency is demonstrated.

Collect and prepare samples in accordance with established Sample Plans and laboratory procedures.

Conduct routine analytical testing using approved scientific methods and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Perform basic preventive maintenance, inspections, and operational checks on laboratory and analytical equipment.

Monitor analytical systems and equipment to ensure reliable and accurate operation.

Evaluate the validity and quality of routine analytical data and take appropriate corrective action when discrepancies are identified.

Troubleshoot basic laboratory and analytical equipment issues and escalate non-routine problems to the appropriate team member.

Accurately document, communicate, maintain, and archive laboratory results, analytical data, and related records.

Utilize laboratory data systems and other electronic systems to acquire, record, process, and report analytical data.

Follow all EHS requirements, site safety procedures, laboratory practices, and ODMS requirements.

Maintain laboratory work areas, equipment, materials, and documentation in a safe, organized, and compliant condition.

Identify opportunities to improve laboratory processes, workflows, tools, and efficiency.

Communicate analytical results and relevant laboratory issues to appropriate stakeholders.

Escalate non-routine requests, abnormal results, equipment issues, and operational concerns to the appropriate senior team member or supervisor.

Support manufacturing and site operations by providing accurate and timely laboratory data.

Required Qualifications


Candidates must meet at least one of the following qualifications:


Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Laboratory Technology, Biology, or another relevant scientific discipline, with applicable laboratory experience; or

3–5 years of relevant laboratory, analytical, manufacturing, or scientific experience; or

Relevant military experience at or above the U.S. E6, Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class, or Sergeant level.

Required Skills and Experience


Basic laboratory skills and experience performing routine laboratory analyses.

Experience with sample collection, preparation, labeling, handling, and documentation.

Ability to follow established SOPs, analytical methods, and written procedures.

Basic knowledge of laboratory equipment and analytical instrumentation.

Ability to perform basic equipment inspections and preventive maintenance.

Strong attention to detail and accurate data recording.

Ability to evaluate routine analytical results and recognize potential data-quality issues.

Ability to troubleshoot basic laboratory or equipment issues and escalate concerns appropriately.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Commitment to EHS, safety, quality, and operating discipline requirements.

Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Preferred Qualifications


Previous experience working rotating shifts, including day and night shifts.

Experience in a chemical, petrochemical, refinery, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or industrial laboratory environment.

Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or electronic laboratory/data acquisition systems.

Experience with analytical instrumentation and routine instrument maintenance.

Experience working under Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) or similar quality systems.

Previous experience supporting manufacturing or production operations.

Work Schedule


DuPont Rotating Shift Schedule – Required


This position follows a 4-3-3-4 DuPont rotating shift schedule that alternates between day and night shifts:


4 night shifts

3 days off

3 day shifts

1 day off

3 night shifts

3 days off

4 day shifts

Candidates must be willing and able to work the required rotating day and night schedule.


PPE Requirements


Candidate Must Provide


Non-permeable work shoes prior to the start date.

Steel-toe or protective-toe footwear is preferred.

Safety glasses with side shields

Candidates who require prescription safety glasses may be responsible for obtaining them independently.


Work Environment


This position operates in a laboratory and manufacturing/industrial environment and requires compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, quality, and operating procedures. The role may involve handling chemical or industrial samples, working around laboratory and manufacturing equipment, and supporting operations during rotating day and night shifts.
