Description
MILLIKIN UNIVERSITY invites applications for a one-year (renewable) Visiting Professor of Choral Music Education to join its nationally recognized programs.
Primary responsibilities include serving as Associate Director of Choral Programs, directing traditional choral ensembles, and teaching undergraduate courses in music education. Other possible areas include music theory, aural skills, and/or applied voice. A cogent vision for recruitment through both personal and university ensemble performances is expected. Additional expectations include service to the choral area in the form of organizational support for tours, festivals, and other recruitment initiatives. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to performing and teaching diverse repertoires and maintaining an inclusive environment in the classroom. Position begins August 2026.
Millikin University School of Music has been NASM accredited since 1934. It comprises a vibrant community of faculty and undergraduate students, offering Bachelor of Music degrees in Performance, Music Education, Commercial Music, and Music Business, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music. Terminal degree (e.g., DMA, PhD, EdD) in Choral Conducting or Music Education preferred; sustained success in secondary school teaching is expected. Evidence of teaching and conducting at the college level is preferred.
