We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at Sonoco! For qualified candidates, we are open to remote candidates in the surrounding areas in North and South Carolina. This role will require travel periodically to our Corporate Headquarters to Hartsville, South Carolina

While reporting to the Associate Director of Engineering, you will provide Electrical Engineering support to approximately 70 plants throughout the Division. The successful candidate must work closely with the Plant Managers, Plant Maintenance Managers, and Capital Project Engineering teams to provide engineering solutions and support.

Primary Responsibilities:

You will work on large- and small-scale initiatives with minimal direct supervisor oversight.
You will act as an Electrical Engineer supporting Capital projects through design and implementation.
You must be willing to work the hours necessary to complete objectives which may include: weekends, extended hours, and travel away from home 20-30% of the time.

Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • We expect you to maintain advanced computer skills (word, spread sheets, CAD, project management software, etc.)
  • We expect you to have a solid understanding of Arc Flash requirements for industrial applications.
  • We expect you to have a solid knowledge of the NEC.
  • We expect you to have experience working with industrial electrical distribution from 5kVAC to 120VAC, motor controls, plant lighting, and coordinated drive controls.
  • We expect you to be able to assist mills in electrical troubleshooting when required.
  • We expect you to have prior Project Management experience

Education Required:

a BS degree in Electrical Engineering

Certification Required:

a Professional Engineering Certification in Electrical Engineering

Experience:

7-10 years of electrical power distribution experience includingpower system troubleshooting and design.
