Job description
About the University of New England
UNE is Maine's largest private university, with two beautiful coastal campuses in Maine, a one-of-a-kind study-abroad campus in Tangier, Morocco, and an array of flexible online offerings. In an uncommonly welcoming and supportive community, we offer hands-on learning, empowering students to positively impact a world full of challenges. We are the state's top provider of health professionals and home to Maine's only medical and dental colleges, a variety of other interprofessionally aligned health care programs, and nationally recognized programs in the marine sciences, the natural and social sciences, business, the humanities, and the arts.
Benefits Overview
- Multiple health and dental plan options, plus vision coverage.
- Up to 8% retirement plan match.
- Generous leave time, including vacation, sick, and personal time, and 12+ holidays per year.
- Educational benefits:
- UNE tuition waiver for employees, spouses, and domestic partners.
- UNE tuition waiver for dependents of employees with 1 year of full-time service.
- 50% tuition reduction if less than 1 year of full-time service.
- Directly manage two Associate Directors and a Senior Assistant Director who guide a team of professionals who support recruitment and admissions for on-campus graduate programs.
- Set clear performance expectations at every level, ensuring goal-setting, pipeline review, and performance management practices are consistent, rigorous, and developmental across the team.
- Conduct regular pipeline reviews with direct reports, holding the team accountable for results while providing the coaching and resources needed to course-correct when necessary.
- Oversee hiring decisions for the team in partnership with the VP, with a focus on building a high-performing team.
- Facilitate regular communication and coordination among enrollment leaders across colleges to share best practices and ensure alignment.
- Partner with the VP of Admissions & Marketing, college Deans and academic leadership, college Directors/Associate Directors for Enrollment, and other campus partners to establish data-informed enrollment goals and objectives for each program and develop and implement full funnel enrollment strategies that support success.
- Map student journeys for all programs from prospective students to initial inquiry, through enrollment-including consideration of internal (UNE existing student populations) and external students-defining how journeys overlap and diverge.
- Understand how each program's recruitment and admissions approach is unique while identifying synergies where systems and processes should be aligned to realize resource and operational efficiencies and to support an optimized student experience.
- Identify and analyze patterns among prospective students who inquire about or apply to multiple graduate programs, and develop customized recruitment strategies to support these students in finding their optimal pathway.
- Regularly monitor data throughout the cycle to identify opportunities to build on successes and when mitigation strategies are needed to improve performance.
- Ensure recruitment activity aligns with enrollment priorities, market potential, and application goals, including optimizing internal pathway opportunities, articulation agreements, external event participation, and on-campus and virtual visit & event strategy by developing a strategy to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of all recruitment efforts.
- Partner with Marketing Leadership on the development and execution of marketing and communication plans to attract qualified applicants, ensuring recruitment messaging and materials reflect the unique value propositions of each program and college.
- Partner with the VP and Financial Aid leadership to develop a scholarship and financial aid strategy for each program and lead the ongoing implementation and monitoring.
- Partner with the Admissions Operations & Analytics, CPS Operations Team, ITS partners, and others to define and understand how the CRM systems, CAS application platforms, and other systems support enrollment success.
- Partner with academic and enrollment leadership across all colleges to define and implement an admissions process that supports efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to individual program accreditation requirements and to overall university policies and accreditation standards.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and standardize processes where appropriate, while maintaining the flexibility needed to accommodate program-specific requirements.
- Partner with Admission Operations and IT teams to ensure Slate CRM is optimized to support recruitment and enrollment success.
- Partner with the VP and the Associate Director of Admission Analytics to prepare queries and reports needed to inform recruitment strategies, admissions guidelines, and practices.
- Leverage Slate CRM to review routine reports related to program funnels-inquiries, in process applications, completed applications, interviews, admits, and deposits-to identify challenges or opportunities through the cycle.
- Provide regular reports and updates to the VP and support reporting to university leadership and key stakeholders.
- Partner with the VP to manage the graduate admissions budget, ensuring effective utilization of financial resources.
- Allocate resources strategically across programs and initiatives to maximize enrollment outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, accreditation standards, and university policies
- Maintain current knowledge of best practices in graduate admissions and enrollment management
- Implement quality assurance processes to maintain data integrity and operational excellence
- Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in graduate admissions or enrollment management in higher education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been acquired.Â
