Director of Operations Position

The Director of Operations serves as the strategic and operational leader for all service divisions, acting as a trusted resource and key decision-maker for the executive team. A typical day may include overseeing field operations across Landscape Maintenance, Enhancements, Lawn Care, Irrigation, and Snow & Ice Management, reviewing financial performance and labor efficiency metrics, coaching and developing Operations Managers and Area Managers, driving accountability through KPIs and operational scorecards, serving as the executive escalation point for client issues, and collaborating with Sales and executive leadership on growth strategy and long-range planning.

The ideal candidate brings a proven track record of managing full P&L responsibility, developing leadership pipelines, and holding teams accountable to performance standards. Success here demands someone who leads with confidence, communicates with clarity across all levels of the organization, and approaches every challenge with a continuous improvement mindset.

Experience, Skills and Abilities for the Director of Operations Position

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Landscape Management, Horticulture, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in landscaping, facilities services, or a related service industry, with a strong preference for prior experience as a Branch Manager, Operations Manager, Division Manager, or Director of Operations
  • Proven experience managing full Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility, including budgeting, forecasting, job costing, and gross margin performance across multiple operational divisions
  • Strong business acumen with a deep understanding of how people, processes, equipment, and operational systems drive profitability and organizational performance in a field-based service environment
  • Experience with Aspire, ServiceTitan, HubSpot, or similar operational platforms preferred; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required; valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
