Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Director of Housing Operations is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive university housing operation, with a primary focus on driving business innovation through data systems and . The incumbent provides leadership for developing responsible, effective, and ethical business practices while overseeing the daily operation of the operations portion of the housing portfolio. The Director of Operations works closely with the Director of Residence Life to ensure all efforts of Housing & Residence Life are cohesive and efficient. Actively serving as the leader of administration, facilities, and technology for the department, the Director spearheads innovation across all housing operational functions. This role leads facilitation and liaises with campus partners on advanced systems configurations, workflow automations, and integrations. Creating data-driven assessments and reports, the Director works to optimize occupancy, streamline central office processes, and inform institutional decision-making.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Master\'s degree in Student Personnel, Business, Finance, or related field is required.

Experience: -Three years of experience in developing, administering, and evaluating operations, preferably in Housing
-The ability to supervise, motivate, and direct staff while providing organizational leadership

  • 45% - Data Assessment & System Administration • Serves as the primary functional administrator within the department for StarRez and other applicable university systems, leading strategic planning, oversight of best practices, user permissions, and module configurations. • Develops, leads testing, implements, and maintains automated workflows within StarRez to eliminate manual processing bottlenecks across all central office cycles. • Liaises with system administrators to ensure data integrity across housing and applicable university systems. Ensure functional integrations and departmental usage of StarRez and campus-wide systems, including Banner, Slate, Lenel, Transact, and communication channels. • Directs the design and execution of online housing applications, roommate matching, room selection, room changes, and housing forms, and any licenses modules, and configurations within StarRez while ensuring responsible data stewardship and adherence to data best practices. • Leverages StarRez and other University data sources and tools to create custom reports to monitor, forecast, and optimize university occupancy and enrollment metrics. • Directs the coordination of physical security and access controls within the residence halls, ensuring accurate access in accordance with StarRez reservations mobile credentialing and security and camera systems. - ()
  • 20% - Facilities, Maintenance, & Logistics • Provides leadership oversight for facilities maintenance, furnishings, warehouse operations, and inventory management by utilizing WebTMA and other systems for maintenance and inventory. • Evaluates and optimizes the digital work-order pipeline, ensuring seamless communication between residents, housing staff, and maintenance technicians through integrated platforms. • Coordinates residence hall space management, renovation projects for space needs, and capital improvements. - ()
  • 10% - Financial Operations, P3 Oversight, & Budget Management • Forecasts annual residence hall revenue and room rates, as well as evaluating and assessing fee assessment, revenue/expenditures, and financial auditing of records to ensure compliance with university standards and regulations. • Assist with comprehensive oversight and leadership for the housing auxiliary budget operations, ensuring responsible, policy and procedure driven, effective, and ethical financial practices. • Develops strategic plan for residence halls and facilities including a 5-year master plan of building renovations and best practices for building new residence halls. - ()
  • 10% - Staff Leadership, Policy Development/Evaluation, Training, & Development • Integrates operational data and StarRez analytics to evaluate policy effectiveness, driving data-informed decisions to improve the student and staff experience. • Establishes, evaluates, and updates all departmental policies, procedures, and SOPs, ensuring compliance with university, state, and federal regulations. This includes the annual assessment of various housing contracts and obtaining legal counsel approval of said contracts. • Provides strategic direction and leadership for staff across operations including administration, facilities, and technology, to ensure a forward-thinking culture of resiliency, innovation, data security, and stability. • Directs and delivers comprehensive training and professional development programs for housing staff, ensuring high proficiency in housing systems (such as StarRez and Lenel), reporting tools, and evolving software/process usage and updates. • Selects, trains, and provides regular goal-setting and performance evaluations for operations staff, aligning individual targets with departmental efficiency goals. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Enterprise Communications • Directs the promotion of the university housing enterprise, liaising with the University Marketing and Communications team alongside the Director of Residence Life and utilizing university systems and CRM tools to deploy targeted automated email/SMS campaigns. • Oversees the strategy, visual appeal, and content accuracy of all departmental websites, portal landing pages, and student-facing communication. - (Essential)
