Job Overview
Georgetown University housing is a strategic priority given Georgetown University's campus plan goal to house more than 90% of all undergraduates within on campus housing and the high priority given to renovations either through High Priority Deferred Maintenance and Capital Improvement Projects. This position collaborates with the Executive Director in identifying the long-term academic housing occupancy management goals on Georgetown's Hilltop campus including renovation and replacement of 1.5M square feet of residential housing buildings. The Director liaises with key partner offices innovating to better serve on campus residential populations during the academic year.
This position directs daily operations for a large and complex housing system and business enterprise with multiple revenue streams encompassing Housing Assignments & Operations for 5,400 students with annual revenue responsibility in excess of fifty-eight million dollars. The position works with and responds to key stakeholders in organizing and managing expectations at a top-ranked university in an urban and resource-constrained environment.
Responsible for Operational decisions regarding academic housing for 5400+ bed spaces. Through maximizing occupancy, the Director helps to establish, develop, and utilize policy standards and strategic plans including occupancy management,, housing retention forecasting, specialized accommodation planning, and housing operations structuring Identifies trends and recurring issues, and escalates to Executive Director as necessary.
Develops relationships with key campus partners and utilizes technology to support the mission. Supports the development of housing rates and communications with the Director for Business Development and Summer & Conference Housing. Makes presentations regarding on-campus housing to parents, prospective students and University departments. The Director designs and implements an inclusive residential environment conducive to learning and engagement. The Director plays a key role in responding to student and campus-wide emergencies.
Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation
This position reports directly to the Executive Director of Residential Operations and Business Development. Reporting directly to this position are two Assistant Directors and indirectly 2-3 Coordinators who comprehensively oversee 50-75 student employees. This position makes hiring decisions, coaches, trains, mentors, and manages performance within their unit. This position collaborates closely with the Director of Business Development and Summer& Conference Housing to ensure maximum use of the residential portfolio on the Hilltop campus while being cognizant of the need to allow for planned renovations and revitalization of townhomes and residential buildings. The Director also works with various offices in developing policies, procedures, and residential environments affecting undergraduate student life.
The position implements measures to ensure that all team members meet high occupancy and customer satisfaction goals, while maintaining the highest regard for student and guest safety & needs. Appropriately execute compliance of local and federal regulations towards the goal of equitable access to housing. Ability to integrate systems and processes is essential. Additionally, this position actively participates on various campus-wide committees; and serves as a vital liaison with various campus offices, including Student Affairs, University Counsel, Academic Resource Center, GU Police, Office of Global Education, School of Continuing Studies, and University Information Systems; communicates with a variety of constituents (i.e. parents, students, partner offices); engages personnel within the department to accomplish goals and objectives; and manages crises in the residence halls and works closely with other University personnel.
Primarily desk work in an office or work space using a personal computer. Some meetings or events in other buildings or off campus. After-hours on-call responsibilities involving crisis intervention nights and weekends. Requires the ability to be on-call for 24 hours of duty. Must be able to respond quickly to emergencies and other needs when they arise. Must be able to work the month of August (training and residential building opening), understand and commit to the expectations inherent in an on-call staff member, and be willing to work occasional evening and weekend hours, and opening and closing of the fall and spring academic terms on the Hilltop campus.
Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years professional experience
Master's Degree required
Must have administrative and supervisory experience in higher education, especially student housing
Familiarity with student housing management systems
Demonstrated knowledge of organizational, managerial, budgetary, and financial management skills
Experience in leading and supervising a diverse group of professional and student employees
Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communications skills
Understanding of legal and risk management
Experience in housing occupancy management;
Facilities and crisis management.
Must be computer literate with specific experience using word processing, spreadsheet and database software
Experience with StarRez housing management system strongly preferred.
Must have excellent interpersonal & intrapersonal communication, crisis management, managerial, ability to work collaboratively with a broad group of stake holders, ability to work with a diverse team and campus community
Must have knowledge of higher education, and student affairs is important
Commitment to the ideals of community and the integration of academic, Jesuit values and student affairs is essential

The projectedsalary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$66,783.00 - $126,720.23Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
