Summary of Position: The Graduate Student Worker - Admissions supports the mission and work of Wesley Seminary by assisting the Associate Director of Admissions with prospective student communication, recruitment activities, event preparation, and general admissions responsibilities.
This position is designed to provide meaningful work experience while helping the Admissions team connect personally and effectively with prospective students. The Graduate Student Worker will represent Wesley Seminary with warmth, professionalism, and a genuine desire to serve others.
Because graduate student workers bring different experiences, gifts, and abilities to the position, additional responsibilities may be assigned that allow the student to contribute their unique strengths to the work of the Admissions team.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prospective Student Communication
    • Make outbound phone calls to prospective students, applicants, and other individuals as directed by the Associate Director of Admissions
    • Follow up with prospective students regarding their interest in Wesley Seminary, next steps, upcoming events, and admissions-related information
    • Send emails and text messages to prospective students using approved messaging and communication practices
    • Respond appropriately to questions and help prospective students connect with the correct staff member or resource when additional assistance is needed
    • Document prospective student interactions and follow-up activities as required
    • Help maintain consistent and timely communication with prospective students throughout the admissions process
  • Phone and Office Support
    • Answer incoming phone calls in a friendly and professional manner
    • Provide basic information and direct callers to the appropriate person or department
    • Take accurate messages and ensure appropriate follow-up
    • Assist the Associate Director of Admissions and other Admissions staff with general office responsibilities as needed
  • Recruitment and Event Support
    • Assist with preparing, organizing, and packing materials for recruitment events, conferences, college visits, ministry events, and other opportunities where Wesley Seminary is represented
    • Help prepare booth materials, displays, promotional items, literature, signage, and other recruitment resources
    • Assist with inventorying and organizing recruitment supplies before and after events
    • When appropriate, assist with event setup, tear-down, or other event-related responsibilities
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Assist with special projects and other Admissions initiatives as assigned by the Associate Director of Admissions
    • Provide support to other members of the Admissions team when appropriate
    • Participate in team meetings, training, or other activities as requested
    • Contribute ideas for improving prospective student communication, recruitment, and engagement
    • Take on additional responsibilities that make effective use of the student's individual gifts, abilities, experiences, interests, and areas of expertise
    • Perform other duties as assigned that support the mission and goals of Wesley Seminary and the Admissions Office
  • Supervision and Development
    • The Graduate Student Worker will work under the direct supervision of the Associate Director of Admissions. The Associate Director will provide assignments, training, priorities, feedback, and ongoing guidance. Whenever possible, responsibilities will also be shaped around the graduate student's particular gifts and abilities. The goal is for the position to provide meaningful support to the Admissions Office while also giving the student opportunities to develop professionally, personally, and in their ability to serve others

  • Physical and Event Requirements
    The position may occasionally require the student worker to:
    • Pack and unpack boxes containing recruitment and event materials.
    • Carry and organize booth displays, literature, promotional materials, and other supplies.
    • Assist with preparing materials for transportation to recruitment events.
    • Help with event setup and tear-down when needed and appropriate.
    • Reasonable accommodations will be provided as applicable.
