Job Summary

The Universal Banker plays a key role in delivering a seamless and exceptional customer experience by performing both teller and personal banker duties. This position is responsible for building relationships with customers, addressing financial needs, and promoting bank products and services. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to handle various banking transactions effectively.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for customers, providing friendly, professional, and personalized service.
  • Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate banking products, services, and solutions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers to enhance loyalty and satisfaction.
  • Process routine banking transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, and payments.
  • Open and manage accounts, including checking, savings, and CDs.
  • Assist customers with digital banking services, such as online and mobile banking.
  • Actively cross-sell products and services, such as loans, business accounts, etc.
  • Educate customers on the benefits of bank products and services to match their financial needs.
  • Participate in promotional activities to grow the branch’s customer base.
  • Adhere to all bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Safeguard customer information and prevent fraudulent activities.
  • Accurately maintain and balance cash drawers and other financial records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field preferred.

Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in retail banking, customer service, or sales preferred.
  • Experience with Jack Henry SilverLake Core and/or Banno online banking preferred, but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of banking regulations, teller operations, and deposit/loan products and services
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving ability, particularly with customer situations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive customer and bank information

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Standard branch/office environment
  • Monday-Thursday, 8:00am-4:30pm, Fridays 8:00am-5:00pm
  • Occasional work outside of standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required to support customers, attend company events, or meet operational needs
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs (e.g., cash bags, coin, supplies)
  • Regular attendance during standard branch hours is required
