Job description

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB is growing and we have an opening for an experienced Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Planning & Operations team in Bedford, New Hampshire. The successful candidate will work with an integrated team of transportation planners and engineers on a wide range of projects for public, private and institutional clients.

Responsibilities 

  • Work within a team of professionals in developing traffic and transportation planning, safety, and engineering solutions for multimodal transportation projects
  • Conduct traffic and safety engineering analysis, including operational focused analysis
  • Provide peer review of analyses submitted to municipalities to ensure accuracy and consistency with applicable standards and local requirements
  • Research and interpret transportation data, community statistics, and demographics
  • Manage transportation engineering and planning projects, including the analysis and planning of intersection improvements, multimodal facilities, and transportation corridors.
  • Prepare written planning documents, technical memoranda, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports
  • Develop proposals and scopes of work, track project budgets, and manage project teams

  • Ability to work effectively in both in-office and virtual environments

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering or related field required
  • 5-8 years of professional transportation engineering and/or planning experience
  • P.E. licensure required or ability to obtain within 6 month
  • Synchro/SimTraffic and HCS experience required
  • Familiarity with national and local transportation engineering standards, including AASHTO, MUTCD, and/or ITE guidance documents
