Job description

Natera is seeking an Associate Director/Sr. Manager, Business Development to lead and expand our biopharma partnerships within the Organ Health area. This strategic role requires a proven track record of cultivating partnerships across the life sciences industry. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of the drug development lifecycle, from discovery through commercialization, and experience structuring deals involving clinical trials, real-world evidence, and companion diagnostics.

Responsibilities:

● Strategic Partnering & Business Development Leadership

o Identify, initiate, and manage strategic partnerships with pharmaceutical, biotech, and technology companies.

o Lead cross-functional deal teams from initial outreach through contract execution.

o Own and develop long-term strategic plans for partnership growth in line with company goals.

o Drive evaluation of new business models, including risk-sharing partnerships and platform collaborations.

● Market Intelligence & Opportunity Assessment

o Provide thought leadership on emerging trends in drug development, clinical trials, precision medicine, and diagnostics.

o Analyze partner pipelines, market needs, and whitespace to inform opportunity prioritization.

o Present insights and recommendations to executive leadership and influence company strategy.

● Deal Structuring & Execution

o Lead negotiations and structuring of complex business development deals, including research collaborations, licensing, and co-commercialization.

o Partner with legal, finance, and regulatory stakeholders to structure compliant and value-driven agreements.

● Stakeholder Engagement & Representation

o Represent Natera at key industry meetings, conferences, and partner events to build credibility and relationships.

o Serve as a trusted liaison to external partners, internal leadership, and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications:

● Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced scientific degree strongly preferred.

5+ years of experience in business development, corporate strategy, or alliance management within biopharma, diagnostics, or healthcare technology.

● Demonstrated success in sourcing, negotiating, and closing high-value partnerships.

● Deep understanding of the drug development ecosystem, including clinical trial design, regulatory pathways, and commercialization.

● Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

● Strategic thinker with strong analytical and financial modeling capabilities.

● Proficiency in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and business tools (PowerPoint, Excel).

The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location.
