Job Summary

The Business Development Representative plays a critical role in driving the growth and success of the organization. This position is responsible for initiating meaningful conversations with prospective customers, uncovering their challenges, and aligning those needs with solutions. Using a strategic mix of outreach methods, including phone calls, emails, webinars, and other engagement tools, the BDR fosters interest and creates moments of insight for potential clients. The goal is to convert prospects into qualified leads, setting the stage for the sales team to build relationships and close deals. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Business Development, or Senior Business Development Representative and has no direct reports.


Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Generate awareness and engagement in key markets and within key accounts.
  • Utilize sales processes and capabilities (including outbound calling, emailing, webinars, inbound lead follow up, and overall lead management) to initiate meaningful conversations, connect with targeted customers and generate sales opportunities for the advanced solutions team.
  • Partner with sales executives to hand off qualified leads and support deal progression.
  • Qualify and market advanced solution offerings to potential new customers.
  • Conduct high-level, strategic conversations with senior executives.
  • Follow-through on new leads created by existing marketing efforts.
  • Prepare sales executives with lead information, as needed.
  • Provide insights and feedback serving as the "voice" of defined markets.
  • Work alongside peers to collaborate and share best practices.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, product updates, and competitive landscape.
  • Participate in training and development to enhance skills and effectiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Key Performance Measurements

  • A scorecard that reflects the number of targeted emails, calls, meetings set, and preventative maintenance agreements booked.
  • Other key performance indicators as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, required.
  • Associate degree from an approved two-year college or university or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Proficiency with working in a customer-focused environment.
  • Experience serving clients through telephone interaction is a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in leveraging technology tools and platforms to support business development activities, streamline workflows, and enhance customer engagement. Knowledge of Salesforce or Hubspot is a plus.
  • Proven ability to set clear goals, commit to action plans, and consistently follow through to successful completion.
  • Skilled in managing multiple priorities and maintaining focus while handling a diverse portfolio of accounts.
  • Highly results-driven with a proactive mindset; demonstrates initiative, persistence, and a competitive spirit to achieve and exceed objectives.
  • Possess exceptional written and oral communication skills and communicate effectively with any audience.
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs, and across remote offices.
  • Ability to clearly articulate ideas (both written and verbal) to both internal and external customers and to listen effectively to customer needs.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong workplace relationships.
  • Requires up to 5% travel, some overnight travel may be required.
