Job description

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Utilizes production and/or development equipment in sample preparation activities. Operates all equipment in a safe and clean manner.
  • Carries out assigned experiments, captures data, and provides appropriate feedback to development engineers.
  • Assists engineering with process recipe development, prototype manufacturing, and transfer to production activities in alignment with quality assurance protocols.
  • Performs visual and dimensional inspection of products, collects and interprets inspection reports from auditors, and suggests process adjustments as necessary.
  • Provides general support including packaging, rework, assembly and hardware install.
  • Assist engineering in troubleshooting problems by investigating product defects, identifying mold problems, and initiating/implementing process improvements.
  • Assists development team in other areas including, but not limited to: design-for-manufacturing, planning, time/cost estimates, material handling, assembly, design/creation of custom test rigs, running custom parts tests, capturing and reporting data.

Required Minimum Qualifications
Education/Certifications: High School Diploma required; Associates degree in engineering technology and/or technician certificate desired
Skills and Experience:
  • 0-5 years of technical experience in manufacturing and/or related product development
  • Must be experienced with basic lab equipment and in utilizing analytical measuring instruments (calipers, scales, etc.;). Must be able to observe, measure and enter testing results into electronic reporting system
  • Ability to follow multi-step procedures
  • Working knowledge of product line specific equipment and processes. Basic knowledge of testing equipment
  • General mechanical aptitude to perform routine cleaning & maintenance and occasional troubleshooting
  • Strong mathematical background. Must be able to solve simple algebraic equations for sample preparation
  • Demonstrated initiative; a self-starter
  • Experience in safely handling chemicals. Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as eye, ear and foot protection
  • Proficient in MS Office - Excel, Word
  • Experience with SAP preferred
  • Familiarity with GD&T preferred
  • Experience working in a production and/or engineering environment is preferred
  • Ability to operate as part of a cross functional team.
