Position Summary We are seeking a Mid Level Appian Integration Developer to support the continued development, enhancement, and maintenance of Case Management System on Appian platform. This role primarily focuses on Appian application development while also supporting enterprise integrations through the DataHub. The ideal candidate will spend approximately half of their time developing Appian applications and workflows and the remaining time building, maintaining, and supporting integrations between Appian and Kafka based event streaming services. This role is ideal for an Appian developer who enjoys working with APIs, Java based integrations, cloud technologies, and event driven architectures. The developer will work closely with business analysts, architects, infrastructure engineers, and partner agencies to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable solutions supporting the federal customer. Responsibilities * The developer will design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain Appian applications, including process models, interfaces, records, reports, integrations, and business rules supporting the FLAG case management system. The role includes troubleshooting production issues, optimizing application performance, implementing new business capabilities, participating in Agile development activities, and maintaining technical documentation. * The developer will also support the DataHub by developing and maintaining integrations between Appian, REST APIs, and Kafka based event streaming services. Responsibilities include consuming and publishing Kafka events, troubleshooting integration issues, supporting schema validation, monitoring event processing, and assisting with the migration to AWS Managed Streaming for Kafka (MSK). The role includes working with cloud infrastructure, Oracle databases, and enterprise APIs to ensure reliable and secure data exchange between FLAG and external partner systems. * The developer will collaborate with technical teams to onboard new partner agencies, implement API integrations, support identity federation and secure authentication, maintain system documentation, participate in code reviews, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and support security, compliance, and Authority to Operate (ATO) activities. Required Qualifications * Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience, along with four or more years of professional software development experience. * Candidates should have at least three years of Appian development experience, including process models, interfaces, records, expression rules, integrations, web APIs, and application deployment. Experience building enterprise workflows and integrating Appian with external systems is required. * Candidates should also have experience with Java, REST APIs, JSON, SQL, and relational databases, preferably Oracle. Experience working with Apache Kafka or similar messaging technologies is highly desirable, including publishing and consuming events through APIs or messaging services. Experience with AWS cloud services, Git, CI/CD pipelines, Agile development, and API security using OAuth or JWT is preferred. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Department of Labor Public Trust clearance. Preferred Qualifications * Preference will be given to candidates with Appian Associate Developer or Senior Developer certification, experience supporting Federal Government systems, and familiarity with Kafka, AWS Managed Streaming for Kafka (MSK), REST APIs, Oracle, and cloud based integrations.
